The Spurs will give Forbes every chance to be the best he can be. That's all a y (good y) guy can ask for.

Some will continue to be surprised.

As Pop would say, life goes on.

last year he likely overachieved but i'm hoping he can do well again this year, but off the bench.

he was great against Denver, and one of our best players on the road in game 7.

To answer the question for this thread, No he won't be an elite scorer, but he can be a solid contributer off the bench.

I believe Forbes will start at 2 guard position at the beginning of the season until Lonnie Walker IV proves his ability. Current starting line up lacks shooter, and Forbes proved it last season. No, Forbes will not be an elite scorer but he will be an elite shooter, just hope his recently add muscle will help his defense improve.

As the most vocal Forbes hater throughout most of last season, I admit in the playoffs, he showed the team that he belonged. But where he belongs and is best utilized is off the bench. His defense is still one of the worst in the league and no kind of confidence will change that from him. Also, he simply does not have the athleticism or BBIQ to ever take his offense to an elite level.

Bryn was averaging what,12pts in 28MPG in the regular season and 11pts in 30MPG in the Playoffs?

You don't want him to up his scoring, you want him to up his effectiveness and get his 10ppg in 20mpg instead of 30.
That way the defense has less holes, the bench shooting is stronger, the rotations work better.

Forbes was shooting 42% from 3 in the regular season (in 5 attempts per game) and 48% from 3 in the playoffs (4attempts pg).
The Spurs goal is to help him keep those numbers at those heights, and hide him better in defense.

He can be an elite shooter,he doesn't have to be an elite scorer.
    These 2 get it

He needs to pattern his play with JJ Red , Beli. He was forced to play PG but should slide back to SG. He is a shooting specialist at best.

if he was 6-6 you’d be on the nuts. The guys overachieving at a high rate. What’s an elite scorer anyway? Lou Williams one? Dame? Bryn proved last year when it mattered that he can be impactful. I say he’ll keep surprising. BTW I was big on getting rid of him until last year in the PO.

there's a difference between being an elite scorer in the nba and a good shooter like Forbes. if Forbes was 6'6'' everyone would be on his nuts but he's not so your point is irrelevant. forbes is a solid player, but he will never be an elite scorer. his ceiling is kyle korver // jj red . great shooters who could go off but no sane person would call them elite scorers. and no, Lou Williams is not an elite scorer

The issue with Forbes is not height but his confidence. If he had 1/4 of Curry’s confidence, he could be an elite scorer. I would even settle for Gary Neal type of confidence. This attribute is what separates the good from great players along with talent and work ethic. He has the latter 2 in spades.

Nah. Those guys are elite at moving off the ball. Forbes is just a chucker.
