Luka is a good player but he doesn't have handles. His crossover isn't as lethal as his shot. Put a great defender on him that gives him no space to create or dribble and he wouldn't be as productive. He's gonna be great though. If the Mavs make the playoffs this season and play the Clippers, he's gonna look average in that series. His step back is actually LEGAL(unlike Harden's) but if he already has space, there is nothing you can do about it. Plus guarding him with 6 footers isn't the answer either

Watching DeRozan let Doncic dribble the clock out for the win tells you everything about this team. Before the game, Rick Carlisle probably thought "boy, it would sure would be great if Luka was guarded all night by Patty Mills, Bryn Forbes, and DeMar DeRozan.

From there, it's easy to derive why the offense is lackadaisical and the defense extremely poor.
Imagine a coach so arrogant that he won't even touch his SL even though it's put his team in a huge hole in basically every game this season.

Doncic might be an MVP in this league and top player at one point.
You know if Load Management hadn't tanked his value by a) saying he'd only re-sign in southern California and b) exaggerating/confusing his injury status we might have been able to get a high enough draft pick to get Luka. But the market stunk. Kawhi screwed us in so many ways.
