^ nice. He is the first pick i’ve been excited for in a VERY long time.
15 year old Jeremy with a bit of swag at the end of the video

he was apparently mvp of this fiba u16 tournament
dunking on fools left and right and displayed some pull up jumpers
He's been handling the rock for a long time.
Is he our new future superstar or a tradr asset to get first pick?
This is the Spurs forum, not the Thunder's.
Neither but I can see him as a #3 on le team which people underestimate how important that role is.
Might be the first pick that doesn’t even sniff Austin.

Sochan: " Damn, Wesley looks like a teen..."
Wesley: "Damn, Sochan looks like Rodman..."
Second only to Bleacher Report the pinnacle of Sports journalism.
Like I've been saying from watching some of these tapes from before Baylor (now that he was our draft pick), we drafted a potential much better version of Ben Simmons, assuming he develops his outside shot.
Which is great, but it has ramifications for who is going to be our PG a year or two down the road, assuming we trade Murray. Only so many ball handlers to go around. Makes others become SG or SF if your PF becomes your Point Forward.
That’s the dream scenario. Long way to go, short time to get there?
I think Spurs should trade him at the deadline for a 2032 first rounder. There's this 9 year old kid out here who's destroying 13 year olds. By the time he's draft eligible we need to make a run at him to get our franchise player. Sochan is not a franchise player so he's worthless
It was 9/11's fault actually. Only Duncan and Iverson upheld their commitment, the others all backed out supposedly in large part due to flying and staying overseas for a few weeks.
At the notion of Bryant being a better leader than Duncan.
Far less athletic Aaron Gordon is probably the best Sochan comp.
There's definitely overlap in their skill sets. Of course Sochan is far more competetive than Simmons is, who wasn't even competetive at LSU.
He wasn't my guy this draft but a very good choice nonetheless. The kid has some swagger in him, but I do wonder how quickly Pop will neuter him....
Hopefully Pop will let the kid play and be himself
”my favorite comp is Draymond but offensively i might be a bit better”
If the Spurs continue this semi-tanking that would probably be the case. As somebody mentioned, they should’ve gutted out once nephew jumped-shipped and got hauls on DDR, LMA, Gay and the Spurs could’ve had multiple lottery picks the last 4-5 years and already on on path. But of course the Spurs do it differently.
insightful scouting report on Sochan’s defense
notes:
-calls Sochan a 3.5 to 4.5 defender, not a 1 thru 5
-extremely physical
-impressive interior defense
-cuts driving angles early. Rare trait for someone that young
-great hands and timing
-smart defender that works with the team’s scheme/ uses angles to defend
-impressive offball defense
-pairs instincts with his great tools, often in position to help
-beautiful executor of scheme
-rim protection will be limited due to lack of verticality. Upside doesnt project to be elite offball rim protector
-awareness on interior rotations is special
-similar to franz wagner in using hips and lower torso to defend
-disciplined helping one pass away
-advanced mental defensive execution done routinely
-had some defensive lapses that coaching could help
-seen struggling against quick guards, but not a knock against sochan. He is a large dude. Wing forward interior defender is what he is.
-stops advantages before they start. This will be very valuable in the nba
-he is always communicating on defense
-denies plays before they have a chance to materialize
-has consistency in doing the little things
-real switch defenders dont exist in the nba. Sochan shouldnt be billed as one as there are no special defenders who are as big as sochan and can guard quick guards
Frankly, the description of Sochan’s defense above reminds me a lot of Kawhi
