There is no irony. There is no science that accounts for ghosts or energy to stay behind after a life force is snuffed.
You're talking out of your ass.
I can buy people leaving behind blind energy which maybe "rings your doorbell" type of thing. Very far fetched but at least half ass believable. Ghosts though is just stupid and gimmicky to the extreme and IMHO the bastion of people who desperately want to believe in an afterlife even if they aren't much for religion.

Trust me, if I had some, I'd post them.
Funny how people can see things so differently. I'm finding those details to be some of the most instructive tbh.

I agree. The weird part is that sometimes I agree with stuff that hasn't been said yet. Spooky.
Na. I wouldn't describe that as spooky so much as the ability to read and interpret people's verbal and non-verbal cues. I do something similar all the time.
Just the poster I wanted to see though.
I wanted to ask you what kind of television set your great grandfather had as well as what state he was in? Did he (your grandfather I guess) remember any details about the show? Plot, characters, etc.?
Also, with respect to your mother, does she have the original book her mom gave her? Was she also in the same state/area at the time?

empirical study
I don't really believe in ghosts but I did have an experience that was difficult to explain.
The time frame was about a year while I was a junior in college. Me and two of my fraternity bros rented out a house in a fairly remote place; relative to your average college city. For example, while the house we lived in was modern, there were a lot of really old style houses and trailers just a block away.
Normally, my health is pretty good. I exercise regularly, prepare all of my goal meals and live a pretty active social life. However, that year I was constantly sick. Myfriends from my high school took notice as well. Additionally, I felt lazy and sluggish the entire time I lived at that place. There was one particular evening that I'll never forget. The layout of my house was kind of unique, it was very horizontal. Walking from my room to the restroom, I could see the entire living room and because of the horizontal nature of the house. The end of the living room from the restroom door was probably 50 feet away. As I entered the restroom, I thought I caught a glimpse of a female figure. Because I was pretty high, I actually laughed it off and found it funny. The next morning I questioned whether I actually saw something or simply hallucinated.
My roommates would also report strange occurrences. For example, they would hear footsteps outside (one of my roommates had a window next to the front door) but would find no one outside. They also heard faint footsteps when home alone (but I never did.)
Finally, we had another fraternity bro live there before the 3 of us moved in. Supposedly he got freaked out by knocking and footsteps and refused to go back to that house. It took him a few months after he stopped living there to collect his furniture (which I thought was kind of strange but didn't care enough to ask him about it at the time). But he never told us this, rather I found out through another bro.
A few weeks before we moved out, we had a long conversation with our adjacent neighbor. He was an elderly person, probably 70+ years of age. He informed us that in 1996, our house was a city designated care house for the insane. He also told us that few have past away there, including one person in the backyard.
All in all, I can't say with absolute certainty that it was a paranormal experience, but it was definitely a giant change from my normal energy level. Beyond my possible hallucination and poor health, I don't really have much evidence beyond that. My roommates strongly believe it though.

Interesting enough, a friend of mine posted this on Facebook a few minutes ago:
My friend's uncle loved playing the tambourine. The neighbors tonight asked my mom how my uncle was doing. She told them he died in November and they freaked out b/c they saw him the backyard and they asked him how he was doing. They said he told them "I'm doing fine." A couple of nights ago I heard a tambourine from his room at 5 A.M. and assumed I was dreaming maybe not.
I saw a ghost once. It was in new York near west mountain. The house was burnt down for sometime. There was just a stone chimney remaining. Me and some friends drove by there and our car stopped. We all got out of the car and that's when we met Abigail. She flew right up to us. My friends were freakin out but I calmed them down. I said "guys, she is gorgeous and looks scared. If she wants to hurt us she will, chill out" they did and she said " do you really think I am beautiful?" I said yes and she said " my name is Abigail" and then she flew off. We got back in the car and it started. Nobody ever believes that story but it's true. Ghost are real. God bless
Any new activity lately? I still don't really believe in ghosts.. at least not in the sense that they are capable of anything but I found the OP's stories interesting.
A few more from my friends:
-Had a friend claim that while he was growing up, he saw face imprints against his window at night.
-Another one claims that hes seen objects get tossed across the room where his grandmother passed way.
-One experienced a dream where there was a dead/ghostly looking female trying to suffocate him in his sleep. He woke up to scissor lock and hallucinated a female resembling his ex sitting on top of him.
Too many people who think they know all the answers in here. I'll keep these experiences to myself.
Some of us want to hear your experiences. Don't worry about the nay-Sayers
Like they said, ignore the nay-sayers. I think I've almost got a theory.
Almost got a theory?
Sorry. Would "I believe there might be a way to make sense of this" work better?
Go ahead and speak your mind.
Personally I dont buy the ghost existence bit but who am I to say your experience wasn't real?
Cant prove it one way or the other. So shoot.
