I'm still a little appalled that Tim is OK; if I were Will or Pop, I would be very cautious in bringing him back too quick. I personally would keep him out until after the second leg of the RRT.

They are the same exact brace with different paint jobs, no more, no less. Why Spurs fans want to argue about how bulky a brace is or how it works is beyond me? It's made of Carbon-Fiber or lightweight structural aluminum.
The goals for a brace like this are as follows:
Maximum activity
Delay surgery
Decrease anti-inflammatory medications
Decrease pain symptoms associated with ACL/PCL injuries
Improve joint function
Ultimate protection The brace did it's job.
My wife, Woman In Black, has the same one, it's custom made precisely to what the orthopedic surgeon and her require in terms of fit, support, and comfortability.
I'm sure it's the same for Tim.
Woman In Black wears it for snowboarding. A brace like this will cost a minimum of $500 so make sure that your insurance will cover it since it's custom made.
Tim has 2 of the exact braces-
The Punisher Design we know of.
The other one, well...It was tweeted out by Ric Bucher:
Tim Duncan switches out left knee brace. 1st choice has sweet eagle made out of flames (V.I. symbol) and a Virgin Island flag on it.
It's really quite possible that it prevented a serious injury. Without it, this board takes on a different tone entirely. Reality, the brace is there for 2 reasons, to provide structural support and protection. Since it's anchor points are the thigh and the calf, the force gets spread out over a wider area. He could get bruising where the straps are but I'm sure that he'll take that everyday over having the knee and the knee alone, absorb the force and ANGLE of the blow. At that angle, you have to be GUMBY to not walk out with at least a tear of the MCL. That's why he wears the brace and the only reason he wears it.Impossible to know whether the brace prevented a more serious injury, or if it did anything at all. Seems to me it didn't help much. What's the point of a brace if it allows that much unnatural displacement?
Torn ligaments can happen even more so on a contact play. Your knee is not meant to move sideways. If your leg is planted and someone hits you from the side, or if you are say skiing, and your ski goes right, when you wanted to go left and leaned your body that way, all of that can cause a ligament stretch/tear.i thought it will be only sprained knee at worst cause usually when it's a torn ligament it's on non contact plays when the knee just give up for no apparent reason(i would say maybe could happened when there is a lot of burden(load of the season) on someone player, or when a player is not in shape).

Why the would you be appalled that he is OK?
Why would you list the fans and Spurs ahead of Tim? It's the best case for Tim. The other two shouldn't even be mentioned.
I simply put them in an ascending order. And why shouldn't the fans and the organization be mentioned? Of course it's Tim >>>>>>>>Spurs>>>>Fans
after watching my Niners get bufu'd last night, i really expected to come on here and see more depressing news about Timmy.
looks like some good things can still balance out the tiness. that was a miracle and i'm grateful for it. rest up Timmy and get well.

Tim Duncan doing some light running on the sideline at the close of shootaround.
Damn good news and best case scenario for Tim and his fans. Hopefully, he will stay healthy. I am sure Pop is also being cautious.
Spurs #1 league and news reports actually mention them. I think this is making all the fans nervous. We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and get the season derailed.
Regardless, as a fan, I am always proud to be a Spurs fan. Today, a very relieved one.
ESPN Scorecenter app just said that Duncan and Manu are out tonight.

Nice to hear Duncan is doing some light running. Still amazed at the good news about him.
It's so selfish, but I really want Manu back for the Brooklyn game. Timmy's injury scared me more so I won't pout too much if he can't play.
I hear you. I'm going to the Brooklyn game for my 30th Bday and would love for Duncan to be back!
