This is just... sad. I'm sure Chumpdumper is busy organiziing a Pollyanna party to celebrate the impending championship already though.![]()
He will get a few minutes but won't be any type of difference maker like many in here are hoping for.

Maybe this is one of those players from over seas that only the Spurs knew about? Pop may be trying to rest Manu so that he will be ready for his annual summerball activities for Timbuktu? I'd be surprised if Mac doesn't average five plus MPG's for the remainder of the Spurs games this season and post season.
I feel that this arrival will be something like the Diaw-effect last year.
Injuries are going to force him to likely be involved unless you think Pop wants to give big minutes to Blair, Bonner and a few others.
I just wonder how long the courtship has been going on. The Spurs really may have been thinking about dumping Jack after the trade deadline before his family issues. McGrady's last game in China was Feb 21 -- which also makes me wonder where he has been working out since. Does he still live in Houston?
I'm sure you aren't going to start watching games.
Okay, Timvp. Then he doesn't play. I wouldn't be shocked if there's a scenario where could play some minutes. That's all I'm saying.
I'm not saying he's going to play 25 minutes and drop 16-18 points.
You're pretty used to that, aren't you?
To be honest I don't see why TMac couldn't take Neals role. Handle the ball a little, don't be afraid to shoot.
Personally I don't love the way Neal plays, I think he takes bad shots and can upset the flow, but if Pop is wiling to let Neal do it he should be willing to let TMac do it.
I think he will definitely get some minutes. I think under a good coach like pop I think tmac will assert himself on both sides of the ball this is the first time he's On a team like this
scared of Houston
useful against Houston
cant even beat the other Asians, not ready for Lin
Great signing! T-Mac couldn't possible produce less than what Jacks was producing.
I think the storyline fairy will sprinkle Houston as our 1st round opponent. Can TMAC get out of the first round against his old team??? I don't understand the haters. Guy has height and an amazing jumpshot. I like JAX better for his defense, but we are better with TMAC than with what we had.
at least the spurs signed someone
@Monroe_SA
Spurs GM R.C. Buford, re. McGrady: “With status of our roster now we felt like we needed to look at some depth and experience.”
1) Bonner and Blair may or may not be legitimate bigs...they are still in the rotation and are in front of Baynes. So Baynes was not going to get much playing time in this scenario. He will get more next year.
That's not the situtation with T-Mac. Timvp makes a point that T-Mac probably won't play. I could see a scenario where he could get minutes and that's not out of the realm of possiblity.
Lastly, T-Mac probably knows this is his last legitimate shot as a NBA player. So he will be a team player and fill whatever role Pop wants him to fill. Even if he doesn't play but is professional....Pop's word carries weight and he can get an opportunity with another NBA team. That is what he wants...not playing in China for the rest of his career. T-mac will fit in under this scenario.
Of course, you have gone to crazy Stern conspiracy theories to justify your argument. Either the Spurs are good enough to win or they are not....not some crazy theory that Stern has conspire to get them out of the playoffs.
"an amazing jumpshot"
like Sjax, always a needed shot volume to score, but could get white hot, well, 8 years ago.
I like, he can also play in the small lineup with Manu, Kawhi, Tony and Timmy
We thought the same about Jack too, so your scenario is somewhat wrong, but, Yeah, I love him on the team.
Well, when a franchise has averaged at least 53 wins since 1999 and won 4 championships you tend to become an optimist. The Spurs situation is not like the Clippers or Nuggets or Pacers that are good teams but haven't climbed the mountain. Yes, they are coming to end of the road but they have earned the benefit of the doubt. And if they are not good enough this year....then so be it.
With Jackson we knew what he was gonna do, notta. At least with McGrady maybe we get something? Jax didn't even belong on the court with the turd towers.
This would work well on OKC going small because Thabo would switch to Parker and would push them to cause weird matchups. I like the possibility.
And Jack would have still been on the team.....if he accepted his role. Jack thought he was better than Green or Manu. That's on him.
I like this assessment. If these Spurs cannot work McGrady in the flow then that says as much about them as it does about him.
