I felt bad for aron out there...he was invisible to his teammates on offense...it's like he was out there just to run up and down the court? But knowing his conditioning, maybe that was the pt?

    Oden fan

Former Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas said he's been working out with ex-Portland center Greg Oden.

"Man, he looks unbelievable," he said at the draft combine. "He's running. He's lifting weights. You might be seeing a comeback. He looks like he's ready to go. He's running, getting in shape. I'll tell you one thing. For a big 7-footer that's all he does, running and getting in shape. He's looking right."

Deshaun Thomas : SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Based off the Spurs' success at finding gems late in the second round, it should be no surprise if Thomas pans out. After scoring 18 in his first game, the swingman out of Ohio State had 16 points and eight rebounds on Sunday night. The 58th pick looks comfortable and plays in control while showing off a smooth lefty stroke.

Can he defend? Offensively he looks very good, could plug him right in next year. Good awareness and seems to be looking to make the pass, which might not be the best option given his shot. Looks very poised on offense. He and Joseph stand out in that regard so far in SL play. Also seems to have a good at ude and is playing within the team.

Crashed the boards well last night. Only question is could he credibly defend on the perimeter?

Still early, but he's showing enough so far to warrant a serious look in training camp and preseason as opposed to penciling him in for Europe next season.

Great game by Thomas tonight. Spurs need to give him a roster spot.

It would be a crime if he doesn't make the team this season.

what's impressive is that he's making all the right decision on the offensive end and being patient, all coming within the flow of the offense

now play decent d and he could make the team if the spurs cant get another backup sf

I still think the Spurs should be trying to S&T Blair and/or Bonner for a backup SF if possible but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Thomas got that last spot. Still not crazy about him defensively though.

I'm not keen on Thomas getting the backup-three spot. That doesn't mean I don't think he should get a roster spot, but he's shown nothing to suggest he can play at a small-forward. I can't recall him playing any minutes there tonight, and that just boggles my mind. He should have had all of his minutes there in the summer league. He may get the spot in name, but I think we'll see three-guard sets a lot and Thomas in Austin next season. They need to begin the position change if they're going to do it.

I think the Spurs make a 2 for 1 trade opening 2 roster spots and at worse, Thomas ends up as 3rd SF.

I agree with you, especially with only one SF on the team!

I like his scoring and offensive game. He seems like a very smart player and can obviously score. Saying that, he looks like an undersized stretch 4 to me. He might be able to play the 3 at the NBA level at times but it will strictly depend on matchups.

The only part of his game that was bad at this point was his help defense on screens. Nando got scorched the first two game because neither Baynes nor Thomas were hedging the screener and left De Colo trailing almost every time. They did a much better job tonight in their help defense.

It seems at this point, Udoka has orders to give Baynes, De Colo Joseph and now Thomas the most minutes to these guys can develop more. After 3 straight games of playing highly efficient basketball, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Thomas made the roster this year.
