Stats aren't everything... Barca has, probably, the best frontline in the world. Messi is, probably, the best soccer player on Earth, and maybe the best to EVER play. I love and appreciate the guy. Not because of his nationality, but because of his skill. Why then, are his midfielders so far behind Ozil? Why is Ozil lauded as the best playmaker in Europe?

As for Valdes...All I have to do is point to the avalanche of negative press from sources across Europe. You can cry about the ty Barca defense all you want, and it is ty, but the fact remains that the Catalans haven't been successful due to an awful defense and a garbage keeper. It's certainly not the fault of the offensive players.

And who says they are far behind Ozil? first of all: Stats aren't as important on football as in American sports and second: Number of assists isn't the only stat to determine the value of an attacking midfielder. If I was to build a team from scratch I would definitely take Xavi or Iniesta over Ozil no matter what the assist numbers say.

Regarding Valdes. What avalanche of negative press? I'm sure that for every negative article about him I can find 3 or 4 good ones. That "negative press" Valdes has comes mainly from guys that don't watch even 10% of Barca's games and let themselves be fooled by the mistakes he has every now and then, mistakes by the way that come from Barca's style of play, Valdes is by far the keeper that touches the ball with his feet the most in the World and he can't just clear it away like most keepers do, he has to try to find a teammate. That's why he has those mistakes sometimes but those mistakes don't make him a bad keeper. Seriously, just think about it for a second, if he was so bad why would he be Barca's keeper for so many years, why would he be the sub of the Spanish National team (and soon to be starter), why would everyone on Barcelona be sucking his not to leave? Maybe, just maybe 'cause he isn't as bad afterall.

And one more thing, I'm not a Barca fan, I'm a Messi fan. Once Messi is out of there I won't give a about Barcelona. I really don't give a about guys like Xavi, Iniesta or Valdes.
