good call
Wayde Van Neikerk is histories only sub 10.00/20.00/43.10 sprinter. He is that guy who can hit the 200m of a 400 in 20.5ish, and then maintain/sustain a huge % of his max velocity. He decellerates at a slower pace than anyone running today. That is the key to 400m sprinting.
The formula is two times a guys 200m PR +4
19.94 + 19.94 + 4....43.88
As we can see he's even far beyond that.
He along with Bolt were the locks of these Olympics. Both would had to have fallen down to lose.
But, while Bolt is done setting world records and his career is about a wrap, WVN is just starting to hit his stride. And now it's....."can he be the first sub 43.00". Michael Johnson has ran a sub43.00 4x4 relay split.
If the kid wants to be the greatest 400m sprinter ever, he will be, he is that great. And there is no doubt if he can stay healthy (full time training) he will run the first 42 whatever 400m.
Bummer that SAF didn't have a 4x4 team in these Olympics, love to see this guy in chase mode.
Michael Johnson who held the old record was histories only sub 10.10/19.40 400m man. Proving that sprint speed is the key, which does get debated vs endurance.
Steady progression
Add 43.02 for 2016.
Year Result Place Venue Date 2013 45.09 18 Ostrava Jun 27 2014 44.38 5 New York, NY Jun 14 2015 43.48 1 Beijing Aug 26

good call
Since the doping discovered in East African and North African athletes the Americans have clearly made inroads in distance races. Rupp bronze in only his 2nd marathon! And in 2:10
By the 2020 Olympics, teenagers Noah Lyles, Michael Norman will be in their early 20's and if they are running 20.09/20.14 now they should be far faster than that (shoulde be but no guarantees) 4 years from now. Lyles (and his younger brother a 400m sprinter) have already signed a pro contract so no NCAA for them, Norman will be the next great USC Trojan (Andre DeGrasse the last) speedster. Now if we add 2016 Olympians Trayvon Bromell and Marvin Bracey who will be in their mid 20's, things look real good in the speed department for the USA.
Then there is Tyrese Cooper who is like 16 right now running...WOW~~~~....times.
He is just as..WOW...at 200 and 400m.
Well I wouldn't be so optimistic tbh...I mean yeah I guess 20.09/20.14 are decent times even for someone in their late teens, but it's not that impressive when there's people out there running high 19s in middle school.
Yep. And projecting even further, my analysis tells me that in 2024, we will field four black sprinters in the 4x100 and take the gold.
Right now we are witnessing so many....one & only.
Usain Bolt only sub 9.60/19.20/45.4
Justin Gatlin sub 6.50/9.80/19.60
Wayde Van Neikerk sub10.00/20.00/43.10
Noah Lyles HS sub 20.10.
Omar McLeod sub10.00/13.00hh
Michael Norman Calfornia HS record 20.14
Andre DeGrasse Canadian record 19.80
John Teeters USA paleface record 10.00
Trayvon Bromell junior 100m record
It works like this.
Now show me anywhere we find a sub 20.00 by a middle school kid. As you can see we will find a 20.09 for HS so we sure in the would see a sub 20.00 by a middle school kid if it had happened.
200 METERS 20.09 Noah Lyles (Williams, Alexandria, Va) 20.14 Michael Norman (Vista Murrieta, Murrieta, Ca) 20.56(A) *Shamon Ehiemua (Marshall, Missouri City, Tx) 20.66 ***Tyrese Cooper (American, Hialeah, Fl) 20.71 *Champion Allison (George Ranch, Rosenberg, Tx) (A) Maxwell Willis (Carroll, Washington, DC) 20.77 *Micaiah Harris (Western Branch, Chesapeake, Va) 20.78 *Khance Meyers (East, Kentwood, Mi) 20.82(A) Dartez Hamlin (Burges, El Paso, Tx) 20.83 Josh Eiker (Galesburg, Il)
Find it for me.
I have the all time list and there is no sub20.00 there by a middle school kid. why?

So tell me EXPERT who ran on the first all black WR 4x1 team?
What was that college that had the last great white sprinters 4x1, 4x2 teams?
Right here.
What's funny is watching me land on a track board for the first time. At first it's the basic..."you Googled that"....ha~~~ It will take a few weeks before they finally..."I'll be damn, you really do know all this stuff, huh?"
When I start talking guys like Andrew Hopkins a 9.2 running back out of Stephen F. Austin, where everyone is..."who?"...that does it. He ended up a big star in the CFL.
I love watching how people act when they know there is somebody who really knows their stuff is around, ha~~~~~~~~~~
Show me.
We are fortunate to have you on this site man. Thanks for all your great work and knowledge during these games.
So if we ran the all time fantasy Olympic 4x1 Relay.

I know ya don't know as Avante proved, but being a little jerk I have to play this silliness.
^![]()
Whatc how our EXPERT will do everything but actually answer the quesion, out of the 100 I;'ve asked him he has yet to answer...ONE.
Give me the All Time Texas A&M 4x1 relay.
Come on guy DO SOMETHING....can you?
translation
I can't talk track at all and have no idea what anyone is talking about here. I just don't like Avante because he knows all theis stuff and we don't.
You know who it is. Come on little man, do you really have to play this silliness? sheesh~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm pretty sure you just copied and pasted from some other forum.
When the NFL season stars, check out TCU 10.03 sprinter/receiver Kolby Listenbee with the Texans and former Oklahoma State's Tyreek Hill (RB) who as a HS kid ran a 20.14 200m, he is a Chief.
Speaking of the Chiefs, they will also have Jamaal Charles (Texas) who ran a 10.18, DeAnthony Thomas (Oregon) and kick returner Nils Davis at RB's. No team in the NFL has that kind of speed at RB as a gang.
Want to see me do that for an NCAA conference?
How about the All Time 4x1 using Texas schools? How about nothing but black schools? Cali schools?
Little man will you ever figure this out?
When I was 10 years old in 1959 I started keeping track stats in notebooks, guess what?
yep...as I suspected
http://trackandfieldnews.com/discuss...sy-4x100-teams
That was stupid.
Why fight it like ya do little man?
Give me any school and if they can fill 8 lanes with sub 10.30 sprinters, I will post it.
