Nope. He was terrible on offense nearly the whole season. I love that he is playing defense, but if all your starting PG can do is play defense, then he shouldn't be starting. If he can't pass, dribble or score, then he shouldn't be starting. He hasn't walked any kind of walk at all in regard to the position he's on the court to play. He also let Lonzo Ball light his ass up on numerous occasions and have the shooting performances of his season. I hope he keeps improving on defense to All-NBA first team as I love defense and am defense first, but Dejounte's gotta do a lot better on the offensive end for me to consider him a starter.
Why do people keep saying Murray can’t dribble? The dude can dribble just fine. It’s not due to lack of ball handling when he dribbles it’s the lack of ball security as in being smart with the ball. Most of his turnovers are from passes, not like he gets ripped anymore. He just needed the playing time and experience to know how to protect the ball. His handle is fine. And as for the Lonzo Balll thing I’m sure he was allowing Lonzo to shoot (because he couldn’t) and Lonzo happened to be hot those games. Doesn’t account for the fact that he plays better defense on more important guards. It’ll be fine. He just had to play more in order to see what he had to work on and I’m sure he’s been working on those weaknesses all summer.
Alright, you are technically right on his ball handing. He's gotten it stolen and poked away due to not protecting it. I'll give you that one. He definitely needs to learn to shoot and pass, though.
I don't hate the kid, on the contrary, I like him quite a lot (especially because of his willingness to defend). I hope he can improve quickly, and start showing a lot of this hard work he's talked about having done, actually start showing it on the NBA court.
Kawhi once mentioned that a lot of NBA players work hard off the court, and they show stuff in practice or training, but they're not able to translate what they've done in the gym to actual NBA games. Kawhi said the stuff he's worked on, he's able to go out there and do in NBA games. A lot of players can't seem to do that for whatever reason. It's not that easy to do it in real games.
The Kawhi statement is exactly what I thought about but didn’t want to mention him. But a key point from what Kawhi said.. and I kind of said it in my post. He said you have to play games to see what you need to work on. Dejounte has done that to finish the last season. He has then worked on weaknesses in the summer. Now he has to try it in actual games. So basically it hasn’t even started for him. THIS is the season where that all applies to see if he can translate it into the actual games.

Dude.. they don’t suck. And Butler wouldn’t stay. He would ruin the team with his at ude and he can barely stay healthy. First of all you can’t even judge Walker as being crap. He hasn’t played and you don’t know how good he’ll be this year or in the future (that goes for the people saying he’s good as well) but it is undeniable we haven’t had a rookie this naturally talented in a long time. Another thing.. we can’t just trade a point guard because we are super thin at that position and Murray’s defense and rebounding at a bare minimum is too much to give up give for a rental.
spurs would be crazy or dumb not to go for it even if it's ending a one year rental, adding a fire power like butler for two projects like murray and walker who personally i'm very low on should be a no brainer... having butler is like having another pg with how he handle the ball!
