I ask myself the question, is McDermott a better option at the backup PF position than Gay?
Yes, at this stage of Gays career McD is better.

When Duncan Robinson gets 90m for 5 years this is incredible value and doesn't wreck things long term.

McDermott slashed 53/39/82 and is in the middle of his prime. $14m per is not bad at all. 3/42 for McDermott is way better than 5/90 for Duncan Robinson.
Don’t waste your time explaining to clowns that will change their tune and claim amnesia. If anyone is complaining about Doug at that price don’t know basketball...period!

Spurstalk falling over themselves to -talk whatever move the FO makes. Truly a damned if you do, or don't, situation.

Didn't this guy play a solid shooting role for the Pacers recently? Duncan Robinson just got paid $90M, shooting's expensive these days. And TBH, as long as the money ain't going to DeRozan, they can sign pretty much anyone they want.... Just no DDR...

    Bertans got 80.
    Robinson got 90m

Spurs just signed their own sharpshooter for 42m who is coming off a career year. Only downside is he's 29 so decline is happening eventually. But of course because he's not john collins it's a terrible signing. Some of you are truly ing pathetic

LOL, called it. Spurs doing dumb things

Spend all your draft picks on shooters ...

Overpay veteran shooter to play over them so they never get minutes the next 3 years.

If they aren't maxing out Collins then I won't bother renewing my cable streams cuz this team will be trashy

Bruh McDermott is 29, our draft pick is 18, completely different timelines, and they're not playing in the big boy club next season so what's the overlap? Besides, Doug is a SF, not exactly a position we're loaded at (remains to be seen whether Keldon will be played at 3 or 4 next season, but still, it's a healthy rotation at worst). If none of our young guys get minutes over the next 3 years because of Doug in' McDermott, that's a coaching problem, not personnel... I can't believe how easily posters here still conflate both issues on the regular. Every single team in the NBA manages to balance out their draftee's and vets' playing time with multiple players at every position.

I swear it'd look like some folks would like to see the Spurs trot out five 19yo's and have them go at it. Not to mention we have a plethora of guards, who all need development with the ball in their hands, so the Spurs sign a notable shooter to space the floor.... And it's still a move, apparently? Have we learned nothing of the DeRozan years? Seriously... You complain we drafted shooters, and also signed a shooter, when we are dead-last in the NBA in shooting attempts and makes per game.....?????

Y'all make no sense, I swear. And lastly, by all means forgo your cable subscription, streaming games is easier than ever and the Modern NBA doesn't deserve a single penny for making it such a pain in the ass to watch games outside of 'Murica, tbqh.

    This isn't an overpay.

Collins at max is a bad idea.
