Fun game. Closing quarters and the Forbes effect continue to be a problem.

That was a fun fourth quarter. I love it when they play defense like that. Just not enough scoring to sustain them the other three quarters, unfortunately.

All in all, you can’t take for granted players who can almost will the game to win. Dejounte has had plenty of moments this season like tonight where he explodes and breaks the game open. White and Lonnie showed a glimpse of that as well. That needs to show up more often. They’ve got to want it. No reason you can play with that much fire and aggressiveness and can’t do it every game. Tonight’s White was so different from any night. If he could bring it like tonight, then he deserves his spot. Not once did he put his head down after a missed shot. He was decisive.

Lonnie on the other hand, had the eye of the tiger but the brain of a polar bear.

Forbes is embarrassing for sure, but no one expects for him to be the future of the franchise.

Instead, our "Big 3" (Murray/White/Walker) went 22/52. Spurs shot 25% on only 20 three point attempts. That is pathetic.

It's amazing the final score was as close as it was...mostly thanks to Poeltl and Vassell.

    1. Play less Keldon in the fourth
    2. Play more Vassell
    3. Give Eubanks zero minutes
    4. See what Landale has to offer
    5. Play more Tre
    6. Feed Lonnie the ball when a change of pace is needed
    7. Sit Lonnie when he’s making dumb mistake after dumb mistake
    8. Keep White’s confidence level up

Basically, minimize stupid basketball as much as possible.

It was interesting that the Spurs made it more of a game once Lonnie got going. This team desperately needs a few players to be able to create off the dribble and that is precisely what Lonnie can do if he plays well. I had really hoped to get more from both White and Walker in this department and neither has really done so on a consistent basis. Right now the best offensive options on this team are Murray and Vassel and I'm not sure anything else is close. If Pop truly wants to win, he need to stop playing Forbes and play more Tre Jones because Tre is another person on this team capable of creating a shot. Its amazing because I'm sure Pop thinks playing Forbes helps them win and him continuing to play Forbes signals to me he's not tanking but its obvious to me how much the team struggles when he is in. its glaring. Pop eventually sees this too, because in most games Forbes doesn't get nearly the 2nd half run that he does in the first, but its killing this team's chances at winning games because they have such a small margin for error.

I'm pretty much to the point where I think Devin should be starting over Derrick. Devin might be the teams best pure scorer currently, and you obviously don't have a defensive drop off when he is on the floor so I really think White should go to a bench role. I still have some hope that Lonnie can learn from games like tonight and put things together more consistently as the season goes on but that feels more and more like grasping at straws as the season goes on.

I’m pretty confident a polar bear wouldn’t step out of bounds once or twice a game.

Too risky. Can't risk winning too many games.
