I wasn't for the war, but pissing backwards on our allies in war is honor and morality-free

We are ruled by evil sh!tbirds in the USA

The removal of flags commemorating fallen Danish veterans who fought in Afghanistan by staff at the United States embassy in the country’s capital has caused a public outcry.

The move came ahead of a silent march that will take place here on Jan. 31 to pay respect and show solidarity to the veterans following remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, which discredited the role NATO allied troops played during the war.

In a recent interview with Fox News, the president claimed that while allies sent soldiers to help U.S. troops, they “stayed a little back and a little off the frontlines.” Trump added that the U.S. “never really needed them” in the conflict.

The comments sparked a significant wave of anger among Danish leaders and veterans, who stated that such remarks were disrespectful and insulting to the sacrifices made by Danish troops and those of other countries.
After the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Washington invoked NATO’s Article 5 for the first and only time in history. Denmark was among the first countries to respond to the call for collective defense and deployed troops, as well as military equipment, which played an important part in supporting U.S. operations during the war in Afghanistan in 2002.

A total of 44 Danish soldiers were killed before the Scandinavian country officially pulled out all of its personnel in 2021. The flags placed in flower boxes at the U.S. building in Copenhagen had their names on them before they were removed by embassy staff.
Danish media TV2 reported that they were taken down “as part of the building’s security measures.” Following widespread outrage, the flags were reinstalled and authorized to remain in place.

Canada and France establish diplomatic presence in Greenland amid Trump threats

Greenlanders are about to receive some crucial diplomatic support from Canada and France in the island’s continuing battle with Donald Trump.

Governor-General Mary Simon will be in Nuuk on Friday to open a consulate in the capital. A Canadian Coast Guard ship, the Jean Goodwill, will be on hand for the ceremony. And French officials are expected to open a consulate on Thursday.

Canada and France are among the first countries to establish diplomatic missions in Greenland in the wake of the U.S. President’s threats to acquire the Arctic island, which is a self-governing part of Denmark. Canada’s pledge to set up a consulate was made in late 2024 as part of a review of Arctic foreign policy, but the proposal took on added importance in recent months as Mr. Trump ratcheted up his rhetoric.

Currently only Iceland and the U.S. have diplomatic consulates in Nuuk although several countries have honorary consuls, who are typically local citizens and provide limited services.

Danish military assists sick US seaman

The Danish Defense Joint Arctic Command assisted the US Navy with the emergency evacuation of a sailor from the USN Seawolf SSN 21 nuclear-powered fast attack submarine off the coast of Greenland.

Arctic Command reported that the submarine surfaced 7 nautical miles from Greenland’s capital of Nuuk, requesting assistance due to a medical emergency. “The crew member required urgent medical treatment and has been transferred to the Greenlandic health authorities and the hospital in Nuuk,” a Danish Defense spokesperson said.

It is extremely unusual for a nuclear-powered submarine to break mission and surface. The Seawolf-class boats are among the most technologically advanced submarines in the world. They are ultra-quiet and can remain submerged for 80 days, with the only limitation being supplies for the crew. They have a published test depth of 490 meters (1,600 feet) and their maximum silent-running speed is 37 kph (23 mph). The Seawolf has a crew of 14 officers and 126 enlisted personnel and is frequently used for classified intelligence-gathering missions.

US Navy submarines do not have a ship’s doctor. Medical services are provided by a senior enlisted independent duty corpsman with capabilities similar to a civilian critical care paramedic.

Greenland doesn't want the hospital ship either

Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said on Sunday "no thanks" to U.S. President Donald Trump's idea of sending a hospital ship to Greenland, a territory that Trump has repeatedly said he wishes to take over.

Trump said on Saturday on social media he was working with Louisiana Governor and special envoy to Greenland, Jeff Landry, to send a hospital boat to Greenland.

"President Trump's idea of sending an American hospital ship here to Greenland has been noted. But we have a public healthcare system where treatment is free for citizens. It is a deliberate choice," Nielsen said in a post on Facebook.

Nielsen said Greenland remained open to dialogue and cooperation, also with the U.S.

"But talk to us instead of just making more or less random outbursts on social media," he said.

When Danish soldiers were flown head over heels to Greenland in January this year, they brought explosives with them so that they could destroy the airstrips in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq, among other places.

This was to prevent American military planes from landing soldiers on the island, if President Donald Trump ultimately chose to take Greenland by force.

Also included in the cargo was blood from Danish blood banks, so that the wounded could receive treatment if it had come to battle.

This is the experience of DR, which over the past year has spoken to key sources in the Danish government, top officers, as well as high-ranking officials and intelligence sources in Denmark, France and Germany.

All the sources have played – and continue to play – key roles in the international crisis triggered by the United States' demand for control of Greenland.

Together, the sources paint a picture of an unprecedented year with sleepless nights. None of the sources have solid intelligence about specific U.S. attack plans against Greenland.

Still, in January, many of them feared that the historically important ally, the United States, could attack Greenland at any time.

"The political leadership, the Armed Forces and the security apparatus in Denmark decided to 'play the game'," says the French official, who has worked to coordinate the cooperation between the Danish and French governments.

The countermeasures that Denmark and the allies chose to take on Danish initiative were to signal strong European solidarity and more joint military activities in Greenland, he says:

    - We wanted to do almost everything Denmark had asked for.

From France alone, Denmark could expect soldiers equivalent to a small battalion, which means several hundred soldiers, the official says:

    - Did you want more soldiers? You could have them. Would you like more fleet support? You could have it. Would you like more air support? You could have that too.

A number of other Allies also offered their support early on – including Germany.

With short notice, a first command with Danish, French, German, Norwegian and Swedish soldiers was flown to Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq.

Immediately afterwards, a main force followed, including soldiers from the Dragoon Regiment in Holstebro, elite soldiers from the Jaeger Corps and French Alpine hunters who are trained for war in cold, mountainous areas.

At the same time, Danish fighter planes and a French naval vessel were sent to the North Atlantic.

Rep. McBride: “I assume you’re aware that Greenland is indeed part of Denmark.”

    Rubio: “For now.”
