I agree with Tpark - I usualy don't - on all he said in this thread.
If the Lakers find themselves out of the playoff hunt, they should just feed it to Kobe every time and see if they can get him 100. OK, they probably shouldn't, but I would find it entertaining. At this rate he's going to start to need to jack up 100 a night for the Lakers to have a chance of winning, he isn't getting any help from his teammates.

Thats amazing. I was at work and I checked the scores and I think I hurt my jaw as it dropped to my desk.
Phenominal effort. Mega props to Kobe.
Wow I had to scroll through 10 pages of bull just to get about 3 pages worth of posts on the actual topic. Nice job guys!
Kobe is indeed the man. 81 freaking points is unbelievable. I'm sorry that I missed this game, it was truly a historic event. I think that Kobe's MVP chances are definitely increased and he should be considered first among all canidates, but then again it's only January...but as long as he keeps doing what he's doing, I don't see anyone beating him out for the award.
Well my comment is wowwow
Kobe Bryant a basketball player that I hate just knock me off![]()
Amzing what he did! He put this team on his shoulders and won the game on his own.
It's a Raptors, it's a regular season but it's 81 points. Eighty one.Wilt needed 17 more FGA to score 100 and 7 more minutes.
Misty you can buy the newspaper but maybe it won't be the one you will show your grandchildren. Kobe can go for a hundred. He is capable to do this.
I wonder what Mike thinks abuot that.
Is Shaq still at Florida?
Godness![]()
I never thought it will happen in near future. The leauge has changed. 3 guard have above 30 PPG. But what Kobe is doing that is so frickin' crazy.![]()
He was scoring at will and he is the leading scorer. Somebody could mention him as an MVP but now he put a real big stamp on that one.
Hardworking Son off da biotch on a mision.![]()
That's what happens when you sell your soul to the devil. That was Kobe's 666th game.

@this thread.
Kobe Bryant just freakin scored 81 points on 61% shooting. I don't care if you personally hate Kobe, think he's a ballhog, hate the Lakers, etc. Just appreciate a rare, awesome performance. How many times in this day and age in the NBA has a player gone off for 81 points like that?
Quit hating, quit overanalyzing Kobe and his game, and quit downplaying what he did tonight. I don't understand how some of you call yourself basketball fans, when you can't even seem to appreciate an 81 point performance by a single player.![]()
Wilt didn't have a three point line either, let alone the 'star treatment' that permeates the league today.Wilt needed 17 more FGA to score 100 and 7 more minutes.
No way. Where'd u hear that stat? If it's true, that's really funny.

InsideHoops.com's editor notes that, by coincidence (!), it was Kobe's 666th career regular season game.
but....Kobe and Odom combined for 89 points! :pAll of this scoring by Kobe is only going to lead to us going out in the first round in the playoffs. Lamar Odom finishes with 8 phucking points....Not good at all.
WTF?
Wilt was not able to score the 23feet shot
And those 7 Kobe points from the 3pt range.
Bird, King, Nique, Drex, Mike, all had the 3pt line. If you are able to do this. You do this.
Elgin was not also tending to score from the 23 feet out.
Who else? Maybe West. But he is not in top 13 (I'll check later whee is his scoring record)
Thompson Maybe would have 80- something point in that Gervin matchup.
But come on Who else? And FG% is insaine.
Kar Malon had 61 on 21/26 shooting and had 19/19 from the FT line vs Mil 27 jan 1990.
So , forget. Cause U have simply no argument
Quit being such a ' .
Kobe shot 10 threes and made 7. Who said anything about FG%? It's going to take more shots for Wilt to get to 100 when he doesn't have the 3 point line to fall back on. Kobe got over a quarter of his points from the three point line. Wilt didn't have a three point line to shoot from.
It's not that hard to comprehend, quit trying to make something out of facts.
damn this dude is one of the few smart laker fans
It's official. Kobe is the Antichrist.![]()
Uhh, it's only seven more points from 3...
A better comparison for Kobe is David Thompson, who scored 73 without benefit of the 3 pt. line...
BTW, Wilt also didn't have the 3 second violation...
Or people his height guarding him. I agree with TPark on this one. Imagine if Kobe could post up on someone 2-3 inches shorter then him every time down the court.
Kobe will break Wilt's record this season!!!! Book it.
Yup. Thompson was making the long ball.
And as I said from the people who saw the game he was something above 80. More or less.
Well Tim Duncan or Kareem Abdul jabbar or Shaquille O'neal through their career had the 3pt line. And they even can't get the 70 pts. Damn Timmy can't get through 20 this year many times.
What's your point Aggie?
Simply astounding.
Really makes you think about how valuable Bruce Bowen is.
Amazing effort by Kobe, I could simply not believe it when I read it. Wow, just wow.
Major Major Major props.
I agree with all the "WOW"s.
I also agree with adidas: I'm not sure how good this is for the Lake Show long term.
Kobe is a great, great player. But I can't stop the feeling that, at his core, if he had a choice, he take scoring 81 over his three rings.
yall think ESPN Classic will show his game?? that would be sweet, i would like to watch it, its historic
Damn Shoogar, I never would have guessed you'd fall for all those rumors and crap. Granted, Kobe the person (adulter) is not so great, but I don't get why people seem to think he doesn't want to championships only individual glory. To me, what makes Kobe a great basketball player is that he's relentless, he'll do anything to win and isn't afriad to shoot in the clutch. Guys like him and AI get this rep for being selfish, when in reality, they're stuck on really bad teams and in the end just want to win.
