I miss watching Spurs basketball already.
Like game 7?I would have had a huge front lineup and make Dallas shoot ALL jumpers to win games

I miss watching Spurs basketball already.
I'm amazed at how the Suns keep winning. . .Amare's out, Kurt Thomas. . .and now Bell???
If the Spurs were short Duncan and Bowen, or Manu and Bowen, or Parker and Bowen we'd be dead but the Suns just keep on cranking.
They're really going to need Raja though if they're going to beat the Mavs. I hope he comes back despite it looking pretty bleak.
Go Suns!
Don't both of these teams have a very similar style of play?
Looks like Bell could miss Game2, at least. Mavs get a lucky break:

Interesting initial reaction that he thought a Mavs fans threw something at his calf!![]()
I really, really don't get how that works.
It seems like if you run the Suns offense and you have Nash, you can go down to the corner and hire day laborers to fill out your lineup.
After watching last nights game, it's.............-allas again . Where is all this "improved defense"? The next time they play defense will be the first!
I was only able to see the last quarter. I keeped wondering where Howard was. Now Bell is hurt, too. Those two hurt may turn out to be a wash.
Pheonix sure has a way of making good teams appear to be stuck in the mud. They seemed more comfortable playing in Dallas than the mavs did. It makes you wonder about the future of the big man in the nba. Can the suns keep this up? I think they can.
Painful game....Howard, Bell, Marion all hurt.
We've gone from small ball to smaller ball.
Whoever is healthiest and plays defense first wins this series.
In Game 2 of the last series, the Mavs went small on us and tried to make the game faster because the Spurs don't play their best ball in the uptempo style. If he goes big, then the Mavs won't be able to keep up. If he wants to keep up with Phoenix he's going to have to stay small, which is a game Phoenix is much more suited for and better at than Dallas. There's no adjustment Avery can make to make the Mavs noticably better than the Suns.
Phoenix didn't play well last night either, they were cold from 3G land and they are one of the better 3G teams in the league. All the "Who won game 1 last series? Remember game 2 last series?" needs to stop. No two series are alike.
Where is all this "improved defense"?
where was San Antonio "good ol' defense" when yielding a 20 pt lead in first half of Game7? Spurs really can't throw rocks at Mavs defense.
Spurs would be playing Suns if the Spurs had played their defense vs Mavs.
Despite playing "Suns Tempo" the Mavs were up 9 with 3 minutes to play. Over the last three minutes, the tempo did not change, in fact it probably slowed down.
What lost them the game was three vary costly turnovers (Griff, Stack, Harris), a very poor job of understanding the shot clock by Keith Van Dill, poor decision not to put Damp back in on the last possession by Phoenix and settling for jump shots at the end after layups had been there all game.
The Mavs also had gotten some good stops down the stretch in the 4th, but stopped getting them. That's what let the Suns back into the game.
Totally agree strange. The pick and roll w/ Marion, Dirk not realizing the situation and coming out on Steve, of course the last shot by Diaw was not played well at all by Stack.
This is early in the series but I feel the mavs have some really bad matchups with the suns that are equal to the matchups the spurs had with the mavs. The mavs love to shoot jumpers and with jumpers the most vulnerable part is transition defense. The suns are able exploit this part of the mavs that spurs were unable to.
The same way the spurs were forced to go small against the mavs (Finley instead of Nazr), the mavs were forced to go small against the suns. (Griffin or Van Horn instead of Diop or Dampier) I expect to see the mavs beat the suns but these matchup problems can't be underrated.
the suns want to keep the game uptempo too. the mavs didn't have to worry about transition d as much vs SA because we were actively trying to slow the game down after dallas would score. should be an interesting series.
AZ Republic says 5-7 days. Which could be up to 3 games.![]()
Barbosa, James, and House will really have to step up to make up for that set back. Raja has been one of the more consistent offensive players on the squad during the post season.
KT was in uniform so maybe he'll make an appearance on Friday.
Diaw doesn't have a defender that can properly cover him. Howard was as close as it got but his status doesn't look to great either.
Good to see Marion finally pulling together a very good Playoffs. He has got to be one of the most versatile players in the NBA and he finally has the stage to show why many of us consider him one of the best players in the NBA.
The Suns though can't hold a lead for anything. 19 point 3rd quarter lead versus the Clips, 5 point lead with 12 seconds left versus the Lakers, and various 8 point leads versus the Mavs. Granted a lot has to do with the pace, but a stop or two won't hurt.
Are you such a ing sensitive homer that the word "should" sets off your Mark Cuban Patented -and-Moan Alarm?
Yeah, I think the Spurs should be in the series because they should have beaten Dallas. Go yourself.
Mavs beat the spurs. The spurs are the better overall team but the mavs gave the spurs some matchup problems that other teams weren't able to do during the season. The spurs still almost won but luck is part of the game.
Can somebody call Jim Atler for me? I have whip lash from watching that dayum ABA game called the Western Conference Finals last nite!! lol![]()
I will give you this, when small ball isnt being used against the Spurs it is actually kind of fun to watch.

your much more enjoyable when you post sensible stuff like this.
How come there aren't enough INTELLIGENT Mavs' fans like this one? Big ups Clambake for realizing what the game was.
Again, i question Dallas' defense. There simply isn't any if you are up by nine points and then lose by three. That's a +3 swing (12 points). Any coach will tell you that that state shows that the Mavs cannot sustain defensive pressure on the Suns.
