"UFC clowns Yahoo, Hockey and NBA finals"
http://ufcmania.com/2007/05/29/ufc-c...nd-nba-finals/
In addition to scoring the cover of Sports Illustrated, the UFC and its UFC 71 event topped the Yahoo! Buzz Overall Sports list today. The term “UFC” ranked as number one, and “UFC 71” ranked at number nine, and “Chuck Liddell” ranked at number 16.
The UFC also topped an ESPN Poll taken over Memorial Weekend asking sports fans which sporting event they were most excited about. The results placed UFC as number one, with 32 percent of the nation answering “UFC 71: Liddell vs. Jackson.”
Below UFC 71 and ranking second was the NBA Conference Finals at 30 percent, followed by the Stanley Cup Finals game at 14 percent, the Indianapolis 500 at 13 percent and the Nextel Series Cup at Charlotte at 11 percent.
The UFC also broke records of its own, scoring the most web site traffic in history on ufc.com. The site enjoyed over 5.7 million page impressions on Sunday, May 27 – one day after UFC 71 – marking the highest traffic to ufc.com for a single day ever.
its sad that the pay outs were that low..... I still would take 5 punches from Rampage for 500,000 though.
That's just what is reported as their base pay. Some might be accurate but most probably are not. Chuck and Rampage don't include a PPV cut. They'll probably end up in the $2M-3M range each (that's what Chuck and o got for UFC 66). Dana takes care of guys depending how they do also. Houston Alexander stated that Dana was taking care of him in one of his post fight interviews.
They have sponsorships and other bonus' too (KO & submission of the night).
Given all that, the pay is still low for the most part...it's slowly getting better though.
Your not considering the training money and sponsors the UFC sets them up with. Plus PPV cuts for the top draws.
MMA, like boxing and every other sport has far too many average "players" to set them all up. It would be bad business if they did.
Rampage will be on the Best Damn Sports Show on Friday night...![]()
Let the love affair with him begin...10x the personality that Chuck has...maybe 100x![]()
So you think this automatically makes him the new poster boy for the UFC??
I think he will have his hands full with Dan Henderson. He may not hold on to the belt to long with all of the super fights that he could face.
I hope so, I like Rampage.....he is colorful.
Well, it's going to be a several months before he fights again. I think we'll see him all over the place up until his next fight.
Dan is a very tough fight. If QJ does win, he'll probably fight Chuck again...or maybe Shogun. , maybe Wandy if he gets back on track against Chuck later in the year. We've seen what the CB guys did to Rampage in the past. If he's truly not "new and improved" then he could be in big trouble. Defending his belt a few times will be a huge accomplishment IMO...
He came to the UFC at the WRONG time. He's got a ton of top talent to deal with that Chuck didn't have over the last couple years. In hindsight, he probably should've come to the UFC after the first win over Chuck. He'd most likely be very famous and very rich by now...
Good call Blingy.![]()
It ain't me.
o bet against his buddy Rampage...and lost $3k...

they would only look good on a black person with baggy jeans.
I just got back from my bachelor party/vacation trip at the MGM Grand in Vegas. Unfortunately, the guys I went with aren't big fight fans so attending 71 wasn't part of the plan. I did find the fighter's entrance/exit in the hotel and I hung out there for a while and met just about everybody except for Chuck. Also got to meet guys who weren't fighting like Arlovski, Villasenor, Gonzaga, Dennis Kang and Shonie while he was shopping for a pimp suit.
Although I didn't get to attend the actual event, a UFC weekend seems like a uva deal. The organization and the fighters go out of the way to be visible and approachable giving the fans a very personal experience.
