You don't kill yourself before the premiere of the new Batman movie when you are playing the Joker...no one does that. You at least wait to see yourself playing the Joker...I mean think about it. Playing the Joker trumps any other issues you might have. Wouldn't it for you?
I don't see how you, I, or anyone can speak about this topic. We'll never know what it's like to be a popular actor.

why? i think the family would know him better than most...and probably anyone.
The problem I have is with the use of the phrase- THAT KIND of person. It is disrespectful to people with psychological problems to categorize them in that way and shows ignorance about mental illness. The stigma associated is part of what still keeps people from seeking treatment and asking for help.

Yuh! There can be Joker sequals, as Batman has had like,5 or 6 different jokers, since the TV show/movies started. I bet Jack Nicholson, will be the next one
I read a report somewhere that Nolan claimed that the Joker would only appear in TDK.

Sorry. There are very few things in life about which I have zero sense of humor, but the Westboro Church is one of them.

I am just so saddened over his death. He was a very good acotr. He had stated that he had sleeping porblems and was very stressed. They found valium and xanax in his appartemnt. Sever anxiety is extremly difficult to deal with. I am battling it right now myslef. And sometimes you just want to take more and more meds just to stop the pain. I really feel for him and may he rest in peace.

But just for the record...I am defending the guy against accusations he commited suicide...something his family is also doing, and more than likely...I am right in that he didn't...so exactly how is that diesprecting him?

So, why don't you show some respect....and common sense.

Pretend it's 200 years ago before3 Xanax and Valium existed...somehow we survived without them...

    Just a bandaid...not a cure.

    Stupidity at its finest.

Thats a pretty ignorant statement. 200 years ago the life expectancy was what???Half of what it is now. Who's to say those meds haven't helped people survive where as centuries ago they didn't have the ability to address those mental issues.

Just because depression isn't teminal cancer doesn't mean it can't kill.

I am not a fan of medications at all nor am I advocating it. But some disorders, if severe enough, make it impossible to go on with normal life. Also, the life expectancy was a lot shorter 200 years ago. And being in a constant state of misery is not good for one's health at all.

Take a good look at what you eat and drink...be completely honest with yourself...

FWIW, I tried to quit smoking 2 or 3 years ago and I literally went bat crazy with anxiety...I didn't sleep or eat much for 2 weeks...

What was the major cause of my anxiety? The cigarettes...and the cokes.

What is the root cause of your anxiety? Most of the time it's what you eat or drink, and what you say to yourself...

The question is...in the long run, will the xanax and valium cure your anxiety, or make it worse and cause other, even worse problems?

That answer is pretty easy to see.

Also, the life expectancy was a lot shorter 200 years ago.
There are a lot of reasons for that...I doubt very seriously that anti-anxiety meds are the primary reason people live longer now...

Heath Ledger damn sure didn't live longer because of them...

And being in a constant state of misery is not good for one's health at all.
Neither is being dependent on drugs the human body and mind are not naturally designed for....for conditions that could probably be cured or handled without them....

I smoke because I get nervous....the cigarettes calm me down...however, they are probably what cause a great deal of my nervousness in the first place.

I bet similar things happen when you start taking anti-anxiety meds...it's problematic...but AFAIK...neither valium or Xanax are proven to cure anxiety longterm.

Eh....I quit drinking cokes and it had a tremendous impact on my mood...I like the result better than freaking Paxil.

    Next up...cigs.

If scientology can help people overcome problems without drugs...isn't that a postive?

Since it's basically a form of hypnosis(albeit a dangerous form) I have no doubt it actually can help people overcome issues without drugs.

Depends on what you define as survival...how much of that extended lifespan involves being miserable in a nursing home dying a slow painful and lonely death?

Just because depression isn't teminal cancer doesn't mean it can't kill.

Where in the did I make that claim ?

WJW FOX 8 News in Cleveland interviewed Ledger in Nov. 2007 when he was promoting "I'm Not There." In the interview, he told FOX: "Being a dad changes your perspective — I don't want to die young."

Ledger also told The New York Times in a November interview that he "stressed out a little too much" during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping while portraying the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."

"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told the newspaper. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour, the paper said.

Read this on Foxnews.com this morning.

    Wow; really sad indeed.

That shows how much passion he had for acting
