I actually like some of the beer selection at World Market. THey have a lot of local beers from tiny breweries there. I have tried several, including a jalapeno beer that actually gave you that warm y feel for hours, it was pretty cool.
the KWV pinotage from South Africa isn't bad, very smoky. Malbecs can be good - some other varietals i have had that were good were Pe Verdot, Sausao. Generally i prefer reds - Pinot Noir, Cabs, and Zins. I enjoy Syrah or Pe Syrah every now and then as well. Whites i don't care for too much, outside of Rieslings and an occasional Sauv Blanc. Champagne, however, is probably my favorite. I have a few bottles of Mumm Napa and Domaine Carneros by Taittinger ready for New Years.

That is a stomach ache waiting to happen, but I guess if we survived the "Boones" era, we can take anything.
If I can survive the "wines" known as Wild Irish Rose and MD 20/20, I think I can handle Electric Reindeer.
Damn Lee, I had no idea. Not only just beer but wine as well. Ever go to any wine bars here in Austin?
I bow to leemajors' alcohol knowledge.
nah, too expensive and pretentious. i generally only drink wine at the house.
Champagne is the . Prosecco is damn good too.
Yes I agree, lee is someone I can learn from. Teach me Obi-wan!!
shmoozing with the beer/wine reps when i was managing the bar at an alamo drafthouse had some benefits. nothing like a 10AM wine tasting on a tuesday!
My knowledge of alcohol is limited to what Kori shoved down my throat after Game 3 of the Finals.
Cava, asti, spumante. i like em all!
This has always been my problem with wine. Some people act like superior asses if you can't tell a claret from a beajolais (sp?). Plus, I always thought wine had to be expensive to be good, and that there was far too much to learn in order to choose the right ones.
I stuck to beer, but with all the microbrews and brewing kits, beer has become a science and art form in its own right, though obviously not on the level of wine. So, I decided if I can handle that, I can take a foray into wine. We'll see what happens.
That wasn't alcohol and it wasn't Kori....
Oh, and champagne is the . I love it, it makes me feel all warm and tingly. And it has less calories than a glass of wine or a tail, too![]()
Yeah some people can be wine snobs, but hey everyone is different. My friend likes white wine and I call him a pussy for it (well thats not the only reason haha), but hey thats his deal. I am still learning and wine testing is the best way.
I don't know anything about champagne, but have chugged a bottle once hahahah.
One of the funniest signs I ever saw was in HEB..
"Wines of the World!!!.......3 for $7"

Manny...you or Jekka ever try anything from the Dry Comal Creek winery in New Braunfels?
Mel, you need to try "Wines Best Buy"; it's near the airport off 281. Rhapsody is the street I think. You can find anything there. And not too expensive.
You are correct, its on Rhapsody.
!! Someone brought some of that to MY house last week!
Mikey - yeah we have. I don't remember what but I know we have. I think we've even stopped at the winery.
So they are either cheap, disklike you or both.

My wife and her folks went there for a wine tasting once and she fell in love with it. Michigan has some great wines as well, we are looking forward to checking out some tastings in the spring.
