Is this happening!?!
I find it interesting that ESPN (and the media in general) keep talking about Miami and Houston (and Minnesota, who KD already said he doesn't want)....even places like LA and NY who aren't in position to get him.
But they have been VERY quiet about the Spurs.

Yeah, we are just saying he’ll ALSO be there at the picks Minny (17) and the Heat (20) would presumably include in their offers for KD.
If the Spurs e up the offer at the 11th hour, which 1st rounder in our chest has the least value (assuming #14 is already included)?
I hold strong. Spurs don't NEED Durant, but Phoenix has to move him sooner or later or they are gonna stay stuck in the mud. If you wanna throw in some SRPs, fine...but any other FRPs are off the table for a guy who will only be around for 1-2 years.
ok ok we'll throw in a top 50 protected second rounder
Pretty sure nothing is going to happen until this gets up to 200 pages.
Doubt that happens. He won’t want to pay Durant what he wants on the extension. He traded Jimmy Butler, and let Dwayne Wade walk, both older players, and over money in each case.
Durant to the Spurs with Utah entering the chat to take on Vassell…Collins, Sexton, Clarkson to Phoenix? Not sure what they are including.
Maybe. But Pat Riley is also 80 years old and doesn't have a lot of time left on this planet. Could see him getting desperate to field a compe ive team one last time and finally agreeing to give up Ware in the deal.
I mean pretty much. They’re probably hoping Suns trade them KD out of spite after a petty negotiation with Houston.
Will likely be announced on Tuesday after the Finals and right before the draft tbh, even if an agreement is made by Sunday or Monday.
He had one last year until he pissed Jimmy Butler off. He can’t seem to get out of his own way in recent years. He also very much a company man, and if Arison says NO again, it will be no.
I got this directly from Eric Zhang whose twitter is suspended
Gambo and Windy kind of saying the same thing today... that Suns dont like the offers and are "waiting for the right trade"
the problem is there isn't much time to wait. a core component of any of these purported trades (other than minnesota), is a 2025 draft pick. presumably, if phoenix was going to trade for a 2025 pick, they'd probably want some say as far as who the player would be.
i dont think SAS/HOU are that desperate. both are up and coming teams with assets. good draft capital, ascending players, and tradeable contracts. they arent going to trip over themselves for a 37yo durant, even if they would like to have him
i think Miami could show some desperation as they are kind of a limbo team in a weak east that might want to take a push with Herro ascending and Bam in the thick of his prime. they arent in the position to sit back and watch their young talent flourish over the course of the next few years
if the suns dont get a deal done by the draft, these guys are all going to move on. the draft is on the 26th and free agency starts on the 30th (well, thats when the negotiation period begins). durant has a 54 mil cap number and you have to plan around that for free agency. then they're kind of just stuck with minnesota where it really seems clear KD has no interest in going.
the return they'd get for KD if they wait for the deadline would be even worse than what they're seeing now. or they just lose him in free agency and enjoy the 54 million dollar expiring salary after dud year where they're paying tax. and then in the 2026 offseason they will have something like 6 guys under contract making about 150mil among themselves, but with no assets to show for KD
I think any team that hold your picks kind of pisses you off. ATL with us and HOU with the Suns are both good examples. NOP with the Bucks is another example.

I'd throw in a 2029 Swap. It would be fairly worthless coming from us but would still look like something.
"They're now wiling to go past the 2025 NBA Draft."
Well see if they're bluffing or not. Time will tell.
as scott said, its the 2029 pick
2026 - our own pick with unprotected swap rights with ATL
2027 - ATL pick
i dont know that ATL will be that bad. daniels is ascending. jalen johnson is already a borderline all star when healthy. risacher had a good rookie year and will get better. and they have 2 first rounders this year.
2028 - our own pick with (top 1 protected) swap rights with Boston
who knows how good/bad boston will be. they'll probably still be good, but the swap rights give us a hedge in case one of these teams has a critical injury
2029 - our own pick, no swap rights
this is the one pick without any enhancements, so its the weakest one. and by this year, wemby will be playing in his age 24-25 season and already ramping up toward his prime. the spurs will likely be good, so this pick will likely be weak.
2030 - our own pick with swap rights, our choice of Mavs (unprotected) or Wolves (top 1 protected)
who knows how good these teams will be by then, but we basically have 3 shots of getting a very good pick
2031- our own pick with (unprotected) swap rights with sacto
looking at all that, 2029 stands out as the weakest one
When can we trade 2032? On draft night or after? That would be the next thing to trade after 2029.
Great recap spurraider21
seeing as how last year we traded for the wolves 2031 pick on draft night, i see no reason why we cant e for 2032 draft pick on draft night this year
Yea thank you for that recap. Ishbia is likely looking for something that can feel like a win, even if its slightly hollow. The "Bane got 4 picks!?!" crowd probably reset his expectations a little bit due to lack of context. A swap right on our '29 pick could possibly count as that "win".
Phoenix: No low-ball offers, we know what we got.
Meanwhile, what they have is a 2000 Corvette with a bad tranny and bald tires.
