The old disco song?
I like thier remake of "I Will Survive"
I wrote a short story once based on that remake.
The old disco song?
Oh ok. My mom took me to a curandero once. I used to scream in my sleep with nightmares as a child, so they took me to one where they did the whole egg and broom . They said it worked cause I never screamed anymore.
Man, when I was a kid, I had an E.T. pillow. I was terrified of that ing pillow. Not only that, but I had this giant stuffed Smurf in my room too. I hated those 2 things. Thats probably why I screamed.
I have this on a shirt

That song is pretty bad ass. It was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. It was fun for when we were all drunk and slurring the words. Good times.
yeah, the whole 'ojo' is based on the very supers ious side of mystical Catholicism known as curanderas. My family has a lot of history there, one of my Tias swore she could see the future. I doubt she could, cus she said I would be married with three kids by my age and I would amount to nothing... stupid !But there are those who have no 'agenda' who practice this stuff. I would suggest taking a trek to Papa Jim's just to look around. It's a fascinating place.
The first song I learned on guitar was "come as you are" by nirvana. I haven't played in years, I wonder if I still remember that tune...
Thats bad ass. My mom will bust out the damn huevo for anything. It cracks me up. She loved the shirt when I showed it to her.
I hardly pick up my guitar anymore, its sad. The first song I ever leanred was Santa Monica by Everclear. I drove all my friends nuts playing that damn thing. It was easy and I needed something easy.
Damn, I haven't heard Everclear in a loong time. Time to open up eDonkey! When I lived in Seattle (for college), they hated them. Portland vs Seattle was still a big thing, even though hip-hop had taken over. I guess it was a matter of city pride. Seattle kick's Portland's ass, btw.![]()
Man, I would kill to have lived in the NW during the early 90s
Oregon plain sucks out loud, period!
What's funny is that the whole eye and egg thing is it's in so many cultures. I've seen Persian people check to see if you have the curse (the eye) with that thing where you drop the match into the water. And then get rid of it with the whole egg ritual. I have also seen Yugoslavian people do the egg thing. I don't know where it's rooted, but it's interesting that the supers ion has crossed over to so many people.
I had a string of bad luck in life like six years ago that convinced this old lady that I definitely had the eye. She even did a ceremony to see who gave it to me.Anyway, though I didn't believe it much, I let her do the egg thing to get rid of it.
It must have worked because I met LJ and lived happily ever after.
Well, this was 94. More like mid-90s. But , it was a great ing time. The Pacific NW is awesome. Seattle is awesome. I highly suggest a visit. It's so unlike San Antonio, its ridiculous. That is both good and bad.
I always tell people like this- go to the Space Needle. Now look in any direction, and you will see a different side of nature. One direction its ocean. Another it's forest. Another its snow-capped volcanos/mountains, and the other its Canada![]()
Ain't that some ? I swear I won't do ojo on my kids. But , when I see how it seemingly has worked on my nephews... I am not so sure!
"Seattle Summer":
-the 5 minutes that it stops raining in the "Emerald City".
I have really loved Seattle every time I've visited. I looked for colleges to apply to there, but didn't really find anything that fit me well. I am looking at grad schools in the area though for the future.
What kind of grad school program are you looking into, if i may ask? I dont' know you and Manny from Adam outside of the forum, but I get the sneaking su ion you guys would LOVE the U-district.
Man, it seems likea cool place to live, but I'd get so ing tired of the rain.
Whats the U district?
Nevermind, figured it out.
The little I've seen of Seattle is awesome.
The best part was when I was in downtown. There was a sign on a traffic signal that read something to the effect of "High prosi ution and drug area. Cruisers will be cited".
I so wish I could've ripped that thing off!
I'm looking for grad programs in history with an emphasis on religion and culture (without necessarily being affiliated with a school of divinity - it's harder to find than I thought). From what I understand the University of Washington may have a good program to look into.
I like the U-district - I think the indie ers might piss me off with over-exposure, but it's a big city, I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to escape them.
The rain is bad, yes. But you get used to it. It's not like South Texas with big, roaring thunderstorms. Quite honeslty, it is a lot of piddly drizzle. And though it rains a lot, yes- it is not everyday like some would have you think. It is overcast most days, but half of them it doesn't rain. But the dreary cloud cover makes some exaggerate.
Isn't it true though, that Seattle has the highest suicide rate in the nation because of all the rain?
I'd like to live in lots of places man, lots and lots. I need to get rich so I can live in San Fransisco.
