    Randalls >>> HEB

Central Market has a good section here though. Some HEBs have good sections too though.
Anytime I have gone to Austin to visit a friend of mine, I swear we end up at Randalls and I didn't care for it. It was a tiny-ass store with very little selection. Havent' been in awhile though.

Whole Foods has an OK selection. So does World Market.

the KWV pinotage from South Africa isn't bad, very smoky. Malbecs can be good - some other varietals i have had that were good were Pe Verdot, Sausao. Generally i prefer reds - Pinot Noir, Cabs, and Zins. I enjoy Syrah or Pe Syrah every now and then as well. Whites i don't care for too much, outside of Rieslings and an occasional Sauv Blanc. Champagne, however, is probably my favorite. I have a few bottles of Mumm Napa and Domaine Carneros by Taittinger ready for New Years.

I actually like some of the beer selection at World Market. THey have a lot of local beers from tiny breweries there. I have tried several, including a jalapeno beer that actually gave you that warm y feel for hours, it was pretty cool.

That is a stomach ache waiting to happen, but I guess if we survived the "Boones" era, we can take anything.

If I can survive the "wines" known as Wild Irish Rose and MD 20/20, I think I can handle Electric Reindeer.

My knowledge of alcohol is limited to what Kori shoved down my throat after Game 3 of the Finals.

This has always been my problem with wine. Some people act like superior asses if you can't tell a claret from a beajolais (sp?). Plus, I always thought wine had to be expensive to be good, and that there was far too much to learn in order to choose the right ones.

I stuck to beer, but with all the microbrews and brewing kits, beer has become a science and art form in its own right, though obviously not on the level of wine. So, I decided if I can handle that, I can take a foray into wine. We'll see what happens.

Yeah some people can be wine snobs, but hey everyone is different. My friend likes white wine and I call him a pussy for it (well thats not the only reason haha), but hey thats his deal. I am still learning and wine testing is the best way.

That name does not sound familiar, no. I just usually go to Target or HEB, the bigger ones have a nice wine selection. I don't go to the liquor store cus there are too many other temptations there
Mel, you need to try "Wines Best Buy"; it's near the airport off 281. Rhapsody is the street I think. You can find anything there. And not too expensive.
