It may be a valid way to negotiate if you're the New York Knicks and you want to be 30 million over the luxury tax. For any team with any sense of fiscal responsibility, it's not.

As was covered before, there is ZERO reason to make an offer to Thomas at this point. The only possible outcomes in that situation are

    1) they offer him too much and are on the hook for a bad contract at above fair market value.

    2) they offer him too little, piss him off, and he walks.

Again, there is no reason for the Spurs front office to make him an offer and every reason for them to wait. Yes, he is unrestricted but by all indications he wants to be in SA and will give them every opportunity to match or beat any offer he receives.

Sit back, relax, and pop in the 2005 championship DVD or something.
I am fine, it was just economic theory conversation. Was that post in retrospect as bad as you made it sound?

Would Bonner have swiped Nash's crossover during the playoffs? Would he have hip-checked West?
Would he have shot over 20%?

Gist will probably spend a little time in Austin.

    So Bonner is your answer?

While Gist gets ready. Yes. Of course we could always sign another big man.

It's so much better than playing 4 on 5 for 13 mpg like you want.

Well, he shot better than Horry all season, so you're probably very wrong.

Because some people are comically predictable.
Got it. Everyone on here is predictable, one way or the other. Whether it is being "sensitive", or "attacking" or a "smart-ass". I can tell you that Marcus Bryant (whom I like as a poster) will say " I hate Spurs fans".

Does not make certain things right. I am over it though. I do not respond like this to everyone, and I stopped talking to Aggie for a week and then saw that post. I do not think that makes me over sensitive.

    Over though, go Spurs

That's cute. Are you sure you want me to take everything you've said literally?

Yes, I want you to take this literally:

Bonner can play more minutes than last season while Gist gets extended playing time in Austin. If we sign some other big man like Brian Skinner, I am fine with his playing some of those minutes for the Spurs as well.

You want Brian Skinner? You want extended minutes for Bonner? You want Gist to play in Austin? Do you want next week's lottery numbers, too?

Horry is one of my favorite players of all time. He had the best feel for the flow of a game, and seemed to know exactly when to put the dagger into the other team. Whether it was burying a 3-pointer, stealing an in-bounds pass, or coming up with a big shot block, he was able to change the momentum of a game. I'll miss watching him 90+ games per season.

If the Spurs wanted Horry back, I would like to think that he would have played for the minimum. I would hope that he recognizes that he owes them that much, after the Spurs gave him complete freedom to deal with his family health issues. So I have to think that he decided to retire, or the Spurs told him that they were moving forward without him. I suspect it's the latter, which may mean that he plays for another team this season.

I haven't read this whole thread, but has anyone considered that Cuban might suit him, the same way he did Kevin Willis a couple of seasons ago? I wouldn't be shocked if OKC offered him a minimum contract, just to bring some veteran know-how to their very young team. And I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Kerr gave him a call either.

I don't think Horry will be a major contributor for anyone if he does play. But if anybody could re-load at that age, it would be him. I'm glad to see the Spurs get younger, and I'll cheer Horry as long as he's not playing against the Spurs.

Maybe we can dump Novak or Head and pickup Horry on the Rockets. He brings good Karma to teams that have him.

Has anyone ever gotten a round-trip ticket to/from Pop's doghouse? The only way I see Bonner getting a lot of floor time this season is if he puts on the Coyote suit.
