No sense in playing Manu anyway since he was getting whacked to death and no respect from the refs. That flagrant foul on the dunk by Camby was the icing on the cake.

Spurs shoot 32% and are 5-23 from the arc. The Spurs got run out of the gym.

Manu got us to -4, then blech. Pop goes weird with lineups again. I think Pop gave up at the start of the 4th.

At the start of the fourth, the Spurs had TP, Manu, Barry, Horry and Mass out there.

    How is that giving up?

I think the game was decided by the end of the 3rd. Manu did a nice job attacking in the 3rd, and the time to break the Nuggets was THEN. But unfortunely Pop felt it was neccesary to take Manu out cause of his endurance. NO one was even hitting open shots then either to seize the momentum completely. Parker and Manu were setting peeps up at times, but even then, guys didn't look like they wanted to take open jump shots.

    It's only 1 loss.
We should be thankful we're not like the Hawks.

the only thing we can positively take out of this loss is:

minnesota's loss to Suns tonight and Denver's W against us, Memphis won too makes the wolves a possible non-playoff contender this season

let's just pray nobody gets hurt again . we're in the playoffs, that's more important, unlike KG or Kobe.

    One of those nights.

Dont get worked up over it, just focus on the Lakers tommarow night.

Ginobili being gassed tonight, wont help for tommarow.

    Nice game from Glover.

it, act like the game didnt even happen.

Spurs have fouled themselves out of this game, -13 FTs.

Spurs give away another game to an inferior team, beat themselves, cannot turn in just an average performance which would have won this game easily.

2 magnificent home wins sandwiched between 3 dog road embarrassments.
The Nuggets are inferior to the Spurs without Duncan?
They have lost only two games since the All-Star Break, better record in the league, you can hardly compare Denver to Indiana and New York.

I was wondering why Pop took Manu out in the 4th quarter even though he wasn't playing well but then I found this quote from Pop:

“We are trying to get a couple of guys some playing time to see what they can give us down the stretch, and at the same time we don’t want to run Manu into the ground,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “He is going to be very important come playoff time. It’s a double-edged sword. We want to win games, but I don’t want to do it at the expense of Manu Ginobili.”
Now I'm worried that Manu used all of his energy from last night and hope he still has some for tonight's game.

I think it was wise of Pop to use all his bench for the last 6 minutes of the game and rest most of the starters. There was very little chance to get the W anyway, so it was a matter of diminishing returns at that point.

I would have left Manu in the game in the 3rd quarter when the Spurs were doing the push and were very close to tie the game (-4), but I won't second guess Pop. Manu was wasted yesterday... you can see that since the beginning of the game. I am concerned about the toll on his body, not so much for the number of minutes, but most importantly, for the number of heavy hits he has received recently. He must be pretty banged up.

Yeah, I also noticed that Manu looked tired since the beginning of the game. Was it the al ude or was he fatigued? I say it was a combination of both. Hopefully tonight he will not be as tired and play a great game.

why can't Pops let Rasho & Nazr play at the same time? the Nugget's big men are killing us
I've been wondering why POP hasn't worked that option myself since we are short of bigs with TD out. I don't think Rasho could move to PF but maybe NASR has enough atleticism to play out there for short spells.

"The Nuggets are inferior to the Spurs without Duncan?"

yes. Had the Spurs played defense like the last two W's, their most reliable, most distinguishing tactic, they might have been beaten by the Nuggets, rather than the Spurs beating themselves, But I really believe the Spurs, had they shot just 40% last night and played defense, would have easily beaten the Nuggets.
