the Raptors were 29th in the NBA defensively, which is rarely mentioned LOL..they rarely double teamed him, it was literally 2 or 3 times the entire game, or something along those lines..their interior defense was Chris Bosh, Charlie Villanueva, and Matt Bonner..

The Raptors of that season allowed 24 30+ point games..so you also factor in the fact that a lot of their losses were blowouts where guys weren't even playing a lot of the game, and they still managed to allow a ridiculous 24 performances like that..

some notables..Rashard Lewis with 41 points..Iverson with 42 and 34 on back-to-back nights..Arenas with 37, Wade with 37, McGrady with 37, Carter with 42, Anthony with 37..Mike Bibby with 42 LOL..Tony Parker with 32-13(far from a star at that time)..a washed up Antoine Walker with 32-8-5..

They allowed season-highs to scrubs or average players(at the time) like Nick Collison, John Salmons, Jeff Foster, Tyronn Lue, Chris Duhon, Michael Finley, Matt Carroll, Barbosa..

My point is that Wilt has a knock against him--he beat the mighty Celtics only once in the postseason.

1959-60: lost 4-2 in Division Finals.
1961-62: lost 4-3 in Division Finals.
1963-64: lost 4-1 in NBA Finals.
1965-66: lost 4-1 in Division Finals.
1966-67: won 4-2 in Division Finals.
1967-68: lost 4-3 in Division Finals.
1968-69: lost 4-3 in NBA Finals.

Still, no one doubts Wilt's ability to dominate the league. He is widely accepted as the most dominant offensive player in NBA history. Russell is not seen as a better player because he has all those rings.

Why? The former 5th All-time Leading scorer played for 8 teams. He's Moses Malone, not Wilt Chamberlain. He's not that great. I'd take Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, Robert Parish, Bob Lanier, and Dave Cowens over him. He talks like he's the most dominant ever, and he really didn't show it. He had a good three-year run and that was about it.

Considering the Lakers were up 34, I would say yeah, he was definitely padding stats. And I'm fairly sure if Phil didn't have the decency to sit him down at that point, Kobe would have gladly kept on playing.

Now, don't get me wrong. It takes a lot of talent to score 30 points all by himself in a quarter. And Kobe should get all the credit for being a very talented player. That's certainly out of the question.

I just want to take the opportunity to say that Dwight Howard is not in the pantheon of these great centers. He's not as explosive as they are and he doesn't have the skills. His brain is the size of a walnut and he doesn't have the instincts these other players had with the ball. He's closer in skills to Ben Wallace than to Shaq or Hakeem or Dave Cowens.
