Was buying blank CDs on my way home and a Case-mate Barely There caught my eye for my S2. I opened it and tried it on and said what the , it's 16 bucks.

Excellent thin case, the only one I see myself having for an extended period of time.

OK. So, this morning I get this text
" AT&T Free Msg: Your data usage is among the top 5% of users. Data speeds for the rest of your current bill cycle may be reduced. Visit www.att.com/dataplans."
From att, of course and immediately I'm annoyed. I'm grandfathered into the unlimited data plan but did me going to LTE affect it? I wish that dumb sonofa of a "salesman" would've told me that. LTE is new for them. You'd think they'd make it pretty damn known that my data would be affected.......

you're not gonna get anywhere, they can throttle you. I think Sprint is the only one who doesn't. I bet they offer $5 off your bill or something stupid.

I don't know because it says I just switched my data plan and I can't look it up. That leads me to believe that this LTE either knocked out my grandfathered unlimited data plan somehow, someway.

I really have no problem with them doing that because if that's what they think is good for their business then fine. I have a problem with them not bringing it to my attention and having the option to accept it or decline. I wouldn't have upgraded if I'd known this beforehand.

Well I did a little research on the Google. Apparently, its not an LTE stipulation but an overall cap specifically designed for the people still with unlimited data plans or should I say "unlimited" data plans. Even so, what they spelled out about this 5% BS isn't being followed out to the letter. "Before you are affected, we will provide multiple notices, including a grace period." Horse puckey!!!! I got that text this morning, I'd done a speedtest before, used to get 15.5Mbps on the DL and now I get .2!!! .2. I know that throws off people like hater, but yeah--now I'm downloading at a little over two-tenths of a Mbps. Grace period, my ass!

I would have made the same mistake, and assumed that I would be grandfathered in.

Look at what you've done. You're making me defend Viva.

Is there a cooling off period where you can revert to old plan (probably not)?

Nah. There's no cooling off period because I have my same contracted unlimited data plan I've always had. Att just made that 5% crap to, I guess, recover their losses from the unlimited plan in the first place. I didn't sign a new contract. Only my credit card receipt which had no fine print or "see terms" on it.

I believe almost all of the US cell companies will throttle you outside of Sprint once you reach a certain point. "Unlimited (But..)"

I read Sprint is not too far behind putting a cap in place
