Probably safe to say that Vassell's rep as a defender was really just him being a system player in College. FSU was a well coached defense and made players look better than they were, considering how great Vassell's advanced numbers were there.

The players are bad, but they really don't know how to play. Pop isn't and haven't been teaching them anything. Van Gundy and co made a point of saying how the Thunder are young, but they know how to play. We aren't coaching the guys.
The "Vassell is great at defense" meme probably came from the same place that the "Vic handles like Kyrie" meme came from. Devin has never been laterally quick.

This is so disapointing to watch. Do they even practice? Do they even have a purpose to what they are trying to do out there? A pick-up game has more cohesion than whatever Pop is having these guys doing out there.

branham just two steps slow on that rotation to Joe. he has to be moving toward him before the pass is made. these rotations have to be automatic, not just responding to the pass
at least vassell is competing out there
