Manu does so much with or without Duncan on the floor.... Having Duncan there, of course, makes it easier... But Manu-haters would have to be blind to see that Manu has the ability to make plays that few others can even see.

And then there was time when Manu, with a Duncan-less and a Parker-less Spurs team, took the Lakers, with their 4 Hofers, to OT.

Who made him better that time? Rasho?

I can already picture MB's response brushing off Manu's performance with a "It was a one-off thing".

I'm still trying to figure out why TD has not made Finley or Van exel better. Tim must not try hard enough with Fin or Van exel better because if they are playing with him they should automatically become all stars. Damn Manu and Tony are lucky that Tim Plays harder with them out there because all the Spurs other than Tim are 1 interchangeable mass

Manu has been all BUT clutch this season. Before that Indiana game he basically didn't do much positive in the clutch this season except for making about half a dozen assists. Even with that Indiana game his clutch stats and shooting efficiency with <5 minutes to go is horrible.

Last season he was near #1 in the 82games.com clutch rating. Huge difference between Manu finishing games last season and this season. Actually Manu seems to be better throughout the course of the game moreso this season.

Duncan is a legend. Even he has had his shaky moments in the playoffs (at least his teams have, especially in 2000-01). God just thinking about 2001 makes me sick. Even the weak teams made a few games close vs the Lakers, the Spurs a much superior team lost about as bad as a team could lose (even a mediocre playoff team could make a game or two close vs the 69-72 win Bulls teams). I still don't know how they did so bad. In 2004 Tim was shaky again. But in between he played like the best player in the league, yes I think he might have been as good as Shaq, and clearly better than anyone else (until KG reached reached his peak in 03/04). But make no mistake about it, Duncan was AWESOME in the 02 and 03 playoffs. As good as pretty much any player has been in the playoffs except for Michael Jordan, and pretty much on par with Shaq and Hakeem. Problem is he never got the chance to face an Hakeem or Ewing in the finals or anything...he never went mano a mano with Shaq for extensive minutes in most of the games in 2003 (although he tore him up in Game 6). But then again Duncan did lead his team over Shaq's Lakers in 1999 as well -- even with Drob in foul trouble most of the games he outplayed Shaq (something forgotten). I sincerely hope Duncan can return to that form. If he does, forget about it -- they can beat the Pistons AT THEIR BEST.

As for Ginobili, the team really isn't relying on him in the clutch. If you look at Finley's clutch shots, he has been spectacular. Basically he has hit all the open shots in the clutch that Gino, Duncan, and Parker create for him. Last season Pop went to Ginobili a lot more in the clutch, deliberately. Obviously this season they aren't using him as much. Ginobili's productivity hasn't dropped off at all. He just had a rough start, and happened to play mediocre and poor against the best teams , the Mavs, Spurs, Suns etc... Last season he happened to be more used in the clutch and happened to have his best games on national TV against the better teams. Manu actually has been more productive per minute this season. I hope he can regain some form and confidence in the crunchtime minutes. It seems he is being used more as a passer to Finley, and isn't doing much else. Either way, if isn't going to pick it up in this area, I have no doubt if healthy he will remain productive throughout the ENTIRE game (basically the complete opposite of Mike Finley, who seems to only be solid in the games closing minutes -- which is good as long as he continues it in the playoffs -- even though he hasn't been very productive all season.)

Correct. That's the one big selling point for sticking with Finley and I have posted the same thing multiple times. Finley has hit a bunch of shots in the final 2 minutes of game, and has had streaky periods in 4th quarters where he will bang in a few 3's.

I agree with your postings about Tim to an extent. 2001 WCF was of course disgusting, but the rest of the team (save AD) just didn't show up. Tim has to be able to get the ball, but the guard/swingman play that series was horrible. The Lakers were able to swarm TD in the post and when you can do that with defenders such as Shaq, Kobe, Horry, Fox etc then you are going to have a lot of success when the Spurs outside players were as horrible as they were. I recall that series Tim having one outrageous game, one very good game, one average game and one shocker. He was still great, his rebounding and shot blocking was insane those playoffs. I don't think that year takes a whole lot of shine of his greatness.

2002 when the Spurs lost 4-1 to LA, Tim was great again. Dude averaged like 28/17/5/5 for the series and of course 2003 was a run for the ages. One of the best playoffs by any player ever. I'm just posting this because I feel like some people have forgotten how good Timmy was, even with little help.

I presume you are not referring to me. I have recognized Timmy's greatness in many of my posts. I simply refuse to give credit to Peter's statement Manu's game beeing so dependant on TD.

reread the thread, there is no duncan hate at all, just peter hating on ginobili. it's not necessary to mention how great tim is, anyone can see it, it's just understood.
