Who says that the Mavericks don't want Terry anymore? He is still a fan favorite here, and the team loves the guy. I think that the team and organization would probably hate to see Terry go just as much as Howard. And I bet that Terry would actually play very well in Los Angeles. He will have a lot more freedom to do what he wants, and more shooting opportunities. I think both him and Howard would do very well over there. A group of Terry, Howard, Walton, Odom, and Bynum would be very good... definitely good enough to still contend for a playoff spot. And more than likely, Diop or Ager is going to be involved in this trade as well.
Good points. I'm tired of all the haters on this crap. It's either going to happen or not. Most people in Dallas don't really care either way. I like our team how it is, but it would be interesting to see Kobi in Dallas. Dirk and Kobe would be a nightmare to guard if they were on the court at the same time. But again, I don't mind our team the way it is either. I'm happy with either.
Do you live up here? You can't claim to be a Mavs fan and not know this. Terry is a couple of bad performances from becoming persona non grata in Dallas. This is the way it started with Finley. The Lakers might take Harris and Howard if the Mavs threw in a draft pick, but they aren't going to be excited about Terry.
Do you live up here? I've lived here my whole life. No one here hates Terry. No one here insists on getting rid of him. A large majority of the fans still love him to death, although some people realize his weaknesses have cost us majorly in the playoffs since he has been here, although at the same time, he singlehandedly has won some games, as well as the playoff series in 04-05 against Houston. Now the fans who know most about basketball, knows that he is probably although at times one of our strongest players, can also be one of our weakest players. if his shot is falling, we are pretty much unstoppable. if it isnt, then we are very beatable. how he plays, determines a lot of our team's success. other guys can have bad games, or great games, and it won't affect the team as much as a bad game or a great game from Terry usually does.

I agree. Nobody has said that yet but don't tell me you don't recognize the signs. That I cut through the and pointed out where it's headed doesn't somehow make it untrue. He's gotten a lot of the focus, and too much blame, for the Mavs' playoff failings and he's always the first name go come up as an asset when there's a trade; a clear indication that the conventional wisdom is that he could improve the team most by leaving it. There's discussion constantly during the season that he isn't actually a point guard and that he isn't a good defender. Do I really need to go on?
Whether it's right or wrong, he's Julius Jones of the Mavericks right now, and you know it.
That's a much better comparison, although he is definitely more favored by fans than Julius. But it sounds much better than saying that he is a player that Dallas doesn't even want anymore.
If I understand the lakers they have a glut of young point guards and traded high for one this year as well, don't they? They may not need another point guard who really cannot shoot(devin). They may want shooters (jason) instead.
It's just that he's not a point guard and not a shooting guard. And devin is going to be pushed to be the full-time point guard. That leaves jason as an odd-man out.
For what it's worth, he hasn't particularly handled being 6th man that well in the pre-season. I think he's been hurt a little bit, but so far the reviews are mixed.
For that matter Stackhouse hasn't handled starting that well either.
You know the Lakers could say Kobe and develop their young talent. When he opts out they will have salary cap space to pick up some talent. They may just land another superstar. LA is a big market so there will always be someone wanting to go there to make their star shine a little brighter. To with what Kobe wants. He helped to create his cir stances so he should deal with it like a professional. The Lakers should milk him for the next two years,let him opt out, and pay for the next main cog in the wheel. They had to do it after the showtime Lakers so it wouldn't be the first time.
The lakers are not in position to be rebuilding...if they wanna rebuild through the draft, they need at least a good 4-5 year run with top picks in the draft lottery...like the lame bulls after jordan era look at all there picks till now, the hawks last couple of seasons...portland, knicks....
if i were the lakers, try and pry deng/thomas/sefo or nacioni and draft picks...that seems reasonable
