Wow... even though it is a little late I want to share some impressions with you about the Por/ England game.

I am still amazed by the atmosphere. It was incredible. 30 000 english fans in the stadium. It was like a home game for England. The penalty shootout was about 50 ft away from me and I was right behind the goalkeeper. I was really disappointed by Backham and I still don't know why Rooney got the red card. (They don't show it in the stadium)I thought both teams deserved to win and penalty is always a little luck. (see Ger/Arg)
It could have gone both ways. I am really looking forward to the 1/2 finals.

1 thought about the officiating: Now that I have been really close to the field I have seen how hard it is to officiate such a game. So much dynamic, quickness and it all happens within a 10th of a second. Some things on tv look like there was NOTHING and in the stadium you realise how hard it was AND you sometimes just HEAR contact. So it is always easy to say the ref is bad, but if you are there you see how much difference an angle/ perspective can make.

For the GER/ITA game. I really think we won't beat them. The defense of ITA is probably the best in the whole tournament. So I expect ITA to come out on top.

FRA/ POR is hard to say. Deco will be back and I hope they will make the final. I don't know why. I just don't like the french team a lot, if they would come out as the champs they would definetly deserve it though.

P.S. I am also disappointed by the Brazil team they never played as good as they are capable of.

    that...go Italy, go Portual.

Having to choose France or Germany is like having to choose which nut I want cut off.

Edit: On second thought, if that happens...go Germany.

    Is it left?

    I've got one question...

During the Eng/Port Match, were you guys(the crowd), or were you not, singing Que Sara Sara?

If Rooney's stomp wasn't enough to get him a red, his push of Ronaldo was. Rooney acted a fool and the red was well-deserved.

I heard that too -- right before the PK's, I thought.

Yeah, some did. They played it in the original version in the stadium and most of the crowd sang along. It was right before the penalty shooting.

A definite black eye for Soccer. Ya'll must never do that again, Ever.

Let's just hope the game was on too early to be widely viewed...and let's also hope everyone that did see it forgets that sorry moment as soon as possible. I'm sorry for bringing it up...but I had to know.

In the future...try to keep the love parade and WC crowds separated please. Thank you.

I'm sorry...but you don't play ing Doris Day during any sporting event played by men and still try to claim it is a man's game. And if you do you damn sure don't play Que Sara Sara.

Thank gawd that PA guy was stopped before he got to the Judy Garland songs....

The day I see a bunch of grown men at an NFL game start singing any song that starts out with, "when I just a little girl"...is the day I stop watching the NFL and renounce my citizenship.

    Italy - Germany 2-0

I like Italy football very much so I hope that they will win. I said on the start of WC that BRA and ITA are going to be in the finals. Brazil will not be in the final so I hope that at least Italy will be. I think it will be very tought game, with not a lot of chanches. But we all know that when Italy haves a chance they use it and score a goal. Because of good defense of Italy Germans will not be able to score a goal from inside 16 meters, so they will shot from outside and Buffon will save everything. With Materazzi and Nesta in defense they will be hard to win.

I wasn't saying you didn't know english. I was saying you did know English well. How and where did you learn? I know it can be difficult to get a visa from Poland or Russia. Maybe the only way would be a guest visa so you can visit.

Anyways back to the thread. It looks like germany will win it all now that Brazil is out. I just can't see them losing at home. Why is there such an advantage to playing at home in the world cup? Teams have historically gone much further then they should when playing at home.

Because refs can help you win the game.

Well, if you have 40 000 ppl cheering for you it helps you a lot energy- wise. It is also an advantage that the players know the stadiums and are used to play there. South Korea was in the 1/2 finals in 2002 (also at home)...

I really think that Italy has the better team. They want to proove somthing after the scandal in the italian league and that may fire them up even more. Our team lost to them in march 1:4! It would be a miracle if we win against them... no matter how the game ends tomorrow, I will be really proud of the team because they got way further than ANYBODY expected...

^ Sorry but i don`t think that if your team will win it will be some miracle. Germany showed us that they are great team. Germany lost and draw a lot of games before the WC (one of those games was with Italy) so they can win. Right now thy are on fire.
Italy haves a long unbeateble strike, the last game they lost was in qualifications for WC agains Slovenia, it was 1-0.
