    You can only contest them.

    But you can't really defend them except try to block his view and beat him to his favorite spots, stay in front of him, play to stop his tendencies...

    Ultimately, he is the one who determines if he makes or misses his shot, not his defender.

    Spurs ice cold to start the 3rd.. need to get TD involved in the offense. If you don't have a player long enough to bother Dirk's shot, then maybe you need some to push him around a bit.. he really doesn't like contact.
