Official: Spurs Trades Thread - Ideas and Scenarios

I'm not sure if you guys already touched on this or not, but how to you guys feel about the reported Vince Carter to the Spurs for Oberto, Bowen, Hill, and Mason? Isn't that a bit much if you're the Spurs? Who would guard Kobe then? Udoka?

Spurs get: Darko Milicic
Memphis gets: KT, Oberto + Splitter rights.

Spurs get:
1. Gain height in the front court
2. Youth
3. Opens up a slot for Pops to be brought up from the Toros
4. Darko has a better shot at developing to his full potential in the Spur's system (who isn't better playing with Tim?)
5. Next season the Spurs would have Tim, Ian (healthy!), Pops (if as good as advertised) and Darko. That's a lot of height!!!

Memphis gets:
1. Experienced centers to mentor their bigs
2. Rights to Tiago who will make an impact if they buy out his contract
3. Depth at center

There is a big upside to this trade for us with only a small downside (Oberto & KT have limited minutes anyway, although I think we'll miss KT in the playoffs).

i don't think the spurs should trade kurt thomas. he does very well against traditional post players like shaq and would help greatly against bynum.

Darko plays good D on the Laker bigs. But I don't think Memphis would want any part of Thomas/Oberto.

I have been stating all along that age is a problem with this team, but the biggest problem is POP he has no idea how to use or develop young players! dont say Tim and Tony come on now anybody could have guided them. Just two guys out off all that has come through here. look at Phil and his rookies ... Donnie pulls players out his but all the time and uses them in any situation. Those guys are coaches why because they use all their players and develop them through the years not us. Prime examples pops mensa bosa... Hairston...Hill...I cant wait till POP is gone. The only reason we won the championships is our teams were complete teams every position was coverd now we dont even have a center or sf and only 1 good pf well gooden would have been a great move if he wasnt hurt and he would have played sooner. He never developed any rookies to take over what we lost in trades injuries or retirement. all year wana be spur fan hoping nothing happens to one of the 3 players instead of having back ups we got old fill ins I think its funny to listen to all the wana be spurs fans think vets are the way to chapionships. cause wana be spur fan wants it NOW. I am a true Die hard Spurs Fan I want to see my team strugle, persevere and then make other teams eat their words when we win a le I can wait ( I waited 27yrs ) to savor the moment. just like life there is a beging and end but the fun is in the Middle.....

I guess bg is just doesnt understand that les are won in cycles not year after year. I see we are contenders wow so are 16 other teams every year! its young players and rookies that give you a future and a chance. I waited 20+ years for the first le i can wait a couple more im not a band wagon fan or I want it now fan. LIKE BG. I like vets but not the whole team I am a fan Of Ian but he seems to be injury prone. POPS Mensa Bosa , Hairston why did we let them go? hhhmmmmmm....and keep kurt thomas...LOL open your eyes now that we have come to the end of the road and stop before you drive of the cliff.
