How about you STFU and don't worry about it. Hornets fan on a Spurs board. You sound like a telling fans on their own board to tone it down.
I sound like a ? Spurs fans are setting themselves up for a big disappointment if they keep acting like this.

No they are not. No serious fan truly believes the hyperbole that is going on around here. It is all in good fun and people have the right to be excited.

Why are you worried about it? And a better question is why would you expect any different on a Spurs board?

I just got back from the game. I was surprised not to see Parker in a suit sitting behind the Spurs. Bonner and Finley were in suits behind the Spurs. But I didn't see Parker at all. Did they say why he wasn't at the game?

You didn't even see the game. Blair played well, and we weren't playing full force obvioulsy, it's pre-season. Duh...

Speaking of disappointments shouldn't you be worrying about your own team-

his negativity has a defenite ring of envy and jealousy... his hornets don't have any young prospects worth talking about, but I agree that doesn't give him the right to tell us to stfu

Give Blake his due. You know he had Blair in his sights tonight.
Blake is a damn good player. He is all Wow. I really enjoyed watching him. He is going to be something in the years to come. But Blair held his own out there and looked good as usual.

Pop played Jerrels, Haislip, Ian, Hairston and Williams for much of the last quarter. What did you expect from that lineup, and it was still close.

No doubt, Griffin is looking good. He will do this many nights. He is supposed to. I like Griffin.

LOL @ LakaLady Boy who's seen only the boxscore. Blair wasn't even in the game most of the time Griffin was on the court.

My only opinion after not watching the game and just perusing the box score is that a guy who can score zero points on one FGA and be plus ten in limited minutes can play defense on my team any day. Hope to keep him upright through the whole season.

Who worships Chris Paul? Nobody on here, that's for damn sure.

You call that optimism? Spurs fans are exhibiting fanaticism about Blair. Tone it down.
you do realize that's incredibly redundant, don't you? Fans being fanatic. That's like the humidity being humid. Or in your case, the stupidity being stupid.

Some thoughts via the radio, again...

You didn't need to hear Brett Brown after the game to know that Pop challenged RJ to be the player he was brought in to be prior to the game. It was quite interesting to hear Brown say that RJ's subdued play wasn't actually a result of him focusing on his defense, what some had speculated, though. Instead he felt he was being a little too deferential in trying to be a good teammate and not make any waves. RJ's simply too talented, and getting paid far too much money, to just be some kind of wallflower. Starting him alongside Hairston, where RJ essentially becomes the 2-guard, was a smart move on Pop's behalf and it seemed to get RJ in the right mindset.

So Pop's new shtick, ya know: 'George is my favorite player.', yeah, he needs to keep that up. Some things you don't even need to see to know they're there. Pulling up on a 3-on-3 break and shooting from 15'; calling for or coming off a screen and letting it fly, without hesitation, for early offense; being aggressive on both ends of the court in taking it to talented veterans; and being vocal enough to hear his presence even over the airwaves. To say these developments for George are encouraging, at this early stage, would be a gross understatement.

Well, Malik finally got his start; and he sure didn't seem to disappoint. The defense seemed more or less what we've come to expect, but his play-making and passing sure goes to another level when he's on the floor with the big boys. When he's usually given an opportunity to show what he can do, it's usually with players that are pretty much in his same boat fighting for a roster spot; players that dictate he do a little more than he's probably capable of at his stage. Instead, he's able to receive the second or third pass, make a move against a recovering defense, and than attack the seams for offense of his own or a nifty pass to a teammate. He's a little like a first-year running-quarterback at this point: Give him one or two reads, and don't make things too complicated to where it stifles his athletic talent. Brett Brown's comments after the game, in regards to Malik, were both encouraging and worrisome; if you're the Hairston fan I am. He compliments him by saying he's 'all-day, every-day' and a good teammate that has a lot of fans on the coaching staff, and he even goes as far as to say he's a real Spur in his professionalism and demeanor, but the way he ended with saying Malik was in a really tough spot and that it was a really unenviable task for him to make an NBA roster.. Well, it didn't sound too promising. Hopefully it was nothing more than him being cognizant of players like Williams and Jerrells, whom he'd like to give a fair shot, and their feelings as they try to make the team, but it just sounded a little foreboding.

Mahinmi seems to be figuring things out a bit; I thought it was kinda noteworthy how he mentioned the Euroleague's rules for screening had him in some bad habits that were causing him foul-trouble in the NBA. He says he's watched and learned from it after seeing the tape, and stated he wouldn't be having those problems from here on out. Cross your fingers and hope for the best; which would be continued health and plenty of court time. The guy can really get to the line and put fouls on people, though..

It was nice to hear Williams play well, or to at least have a stand-out stretch, and to have the man who gave Atlas a job continue doing his thing -- even some solid moments from Tim and 'Dyess with the high-low and Ratliff with the D, so all-in-all it was a pretty decent outing.

    Oh, and that other rookie..

    Not too shabby.

Blake Griffin really seems to be almost a bigger, more athletic, and higher-energy version of Boozer to me; Boozer on steroids, if you will. It's really hard not to be impressed with the player he is, much less the player he could potentially be. I wouldn't go crazy with the hyperbole after a game like tonight, at least not yet, -- the defense individually just isn't there for the Spurs' bigs at this stage and he didn't even see a double until he entered a couple minutes into the 4th -- but it definitely looks like the Clippers finally found a way to not screw it up; Olowakandi he ain't.

It doesn't look good for Haislip. After a DNP-CD, he doesn't get a lot of minutes in this game. Pop is going to trim the rotation for the next game and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the doghouse.

Aside of Blair, "unproven" players who look the closest to be part of the rotation are Hairston and Mahinmi. It will be interesting to see if Pop continue to give then a chance or will go with the experienced players (Bogans and Ratliff).

Indeed it will be. In my mind its Hairston beating out Bogans and Ratlliff getting the nod over Mahinmi so far.

You think? I think they're both making their case to earn a spot in the roster, but I don't see them anywhere near as part of the rotation unless there's some injuries to the vets.

I'm still scratching my head over Bogans. I do understand that he was probable brought in for insurance since we did not know how far along some of our young players have come. However if Spurs kept him and waived Hairston, and or Hilsap to keep him it would be a big damper to such a great off-season.

Boguns has shown absolutely nothing to jeopardies losing young developing talent. He even looks like he could be a huge liability out there ,on offence at least.

    Meanwhile.......

Blair continues to consume loose rebounds, like a quiet juggernaut floating unseen through the dark of deep space.

It's already too late for the rest of the league, they simply haven't realized it yet.
