DPG at least admitted saying Bosh is worth the max and Amare isn't was wrong, Amused grabber still will only say "Amare is just better right now " and still thinks I was the one who brought "weak takes" in this thread.

    Man, this thread is annoying.

It's easy to say Amare is a better player now, when he's the #1 option on a playoff team, and Bosh is a third wheel on another. But Amare has been a better player than Bosh from Day ing One and only now are people coming to his defense. I guess he needed to get out of Nash's shadow to really prove himself.

Yeah without Nash people are seeing how lethal of an iso scorer Amare has become recently. I'm not a fan of how much he faces up in isos rather than posts up, but it's hard to argue with the results. It's a shame the Suns are built such that unless your name is Steve Nash, you'll be undervalued and discounted as a player in Phoenix.

Oddly, I think the best thing that happened to Amare was getting his knees ed up. It forced him to learn how to develop his game to include skills not based on his athletic ability, such as improved footwork, and most importantly that mid-range jumper that has become so deadly, which has been extending to nearly 3pt depth.

It really didn't, from 2007-2009, he was still a very unpolished guy who was just less athletic. Maturity is what made him develop his skills, it would have eventually happened with or without the surgery. 2007-2009 Amare was = to or < Bosh, even when his numbers were mediocre at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season, he was a much improved player who was creating most of his shots for himself and stepping up on defense. People wonder why my opinion of Amare flipped so much from 2009 to 2010, it's because even tho the numbers might be similar, 2010 Amare was playing hard while 2009 Amare quit just as much as the rest of the team.

If by quit, you mean missed the 2nd half of the season due to injury, then yeah, I agree with that.

Amare has always had the drive to become a better player. He came into the league as a dunk machine, a guy who would power through, past, or over opponents to get the ball into the rim. I think you're both right--the knee surgeries forced Amare to develop a new style of offense, and his maturity over the years has helped to define that style. He's gone from being just a scorer to an on-court leader. If you watched the post-game videos from last year's playoffs, Amare was a very vocal locker room presence. It really seemed like Amare was well-liked and well-respected by the whole Suns locker room.

He was just as much of a part of the quitting mutiny against Porter as Grant Hill and Steve Nash were (I still however give them more blame since they were supposed to be the respectable veterans on the team), and his defense was at like an all time worse in 2009. I wasn't referring to the eye injury, I was referring to the fact he was a detrimental presence on the court for a large part of the 09 season, but the next season he was a great leader from day 1.

The only thing I consider Amare developing specifically because of his surgery was the jumper. IMO, he improved iso game, improved passing, improved offensive rebounding etc. all came with maturity and discipline.

I kinda miss 05 Amare though, that man was a beast.

He knew all about defense, rotation, boxing out, passing out of double teams etc etc but man was he something in terms of natural ability. Amazing athleticism, agility, body control, great hands where he could catch everything thrown him, get fouled and yet find a way to still put the ball in the basket. He gave Mavs and Spurs fans a lot of sleepless nights. I for one am not displeased at all that he is in the East now. Bosh has never come even close to doing anything similar to that.
