Great pick up by the Rangers and appears it came pretty cheaply as well. Another aspect I like in Rios game is his ability to steal bases, he has 26 on the season. I think Rios bats 5th behind Beltre.

Just wondering who that TBD is...

Edit: Rangers website says player to be determined OR cash considerations.

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...s_tex&c_id=tex

"Rios is one of four active players with at least 300 doubles, 50 triples, 150 home runs and 200 stolen bases in their career, joining Carlos Beltran, Derek Jeter, and Jimmy Rollins"

I really like this signing. Things may be falling together nicely for us; we shall see.

He won't hurt the ball club, that's for sure.

should be a fantastic pickup. solid OBP, doesn't strike out much, has moderate power, and good speed. seems like he should give production very similar to Kinsler.

murphy has been garbage all year, so either this ends up replacing him, or lighting a fire under his ass and hopefully getting some better production out of him

i would rather murph be backup, and start Gentry the majority of games. then that means you have Rios, Gentry, Martin, Andrus, and Kinsler (even though hes sometimes re ed) who are all very capable of making opponents pay with their good speed.

    Great move for the rangers.

On a great run right now. Won 9 out of 10 and going for 5 in a row tonight against the Astros.

I love the Rios deal - he's been more than solid all year and Garcia was definitely an expendable piece. I had heard rumors that Chicago was trying to get Martin, and if that was the case I would not have wanted this deal to happen.

Oakland got beat today. Good opportunity to take a 1 game lead with another victory over the Astros tonight. Holland pitching tonight. Let's hope the rangers hitting stays hot.

Rios comes through in the clutch in his first game as a ranger! Great 8th inning comeback.

The Rangers hitting coach deserves a bonus. Everyone in the lineup is having disciplined ABs and working the pitcher regardless of the score. The other teams have been forced to go to their bullpens early even if their pitcher is having a quality start.

Rios already 2 for 3 today. I'm liking this trade a lot for the rangers.

Was a lot of fun watching the past two games at Minute Maid. Thinking of making this an annual late season thing. August in Arlington just plain sucks.

Rangers need a retractable roof at the ballpark. Their ticket sales would improve dramatically.

The ratio of Rangers fans to Astros fans these past 3 games has been pretty awesome.
