That's still quite a bit of money for a guy coming off that kind of serious injury

Signing a broken Wes Matthews to a risky $13-14 mil per year would be a really Mavs-esque move, tbh..

Ellis to Indiana seems obvious, too, better version of Stuckey on a team that desperately needs perimeter penetration and volume scoring..could be a nice bounce-back team if they can get anything in the frontcourt..

But the salaries would be higher for someone who's at least competent and has been in the league longer. All I'm saying is that if Manu walks and Green leaves that's 2 roster spots to fill with vets that will cost significantly more than #26.
A vet's min is higher for someone who has been in the league longer, but the cap hit is the same. I forget the specifics, but think the league eats part of the difference.

At this point, those roster spots will just be held by $525k minimum cap holds. Can sign a 10 year vet to a deal multiple times bigger that's still vet min later.

Kobe and LMA would bring out the worst in each other and the Lakers offense likely terrible. Byron Scott also encourages long 2s LOL

For Spurs we have the opposite with LMA finally converting all those long 2s into 3s and likely the offense would be great.

Wes is a gamble. He's worth that money if he fully recovers, but Parsons coming off of what appears to be micro-fracture surgery and Wes coming off of achilles tear? Risky business.

if he goes to LA it's a lifestyle choice instead of a basketball decision

Realistically, a team with Parsons as a major option probably isn't contending any time soon, anyways..might as well take risks on Matthews and/or Jordan, I suppose..

I don't know why these teams keep banking on score-first SFs that don't do anything else..unless it's a generational talent like Durant, it's going to be really difficult to fit that type of player on your team..

100% and anybody thinks thinks otherwise is delusional..

I completely disagree with the Lakers plan to pursue Aldridge, though, I don't see how he fits into their future..

Wes normally does more and people thought Parsons play making was better than it really is (same with his defense). Mavs have to do something though.

I wasn't grouping Matthews with Parsons in my SF statement, it was a separate thought..

Matthews is absolutely worth 15 if he's healthy and back to form IMO..

I was referring to players like Parsons, Tobias Harris, Jeff Green, Michael Beasley before everybody realized he was a bust, Rudy Gay, etc..I guess people just assume they can play defense because they're long and athletic, but it's extremely difficult to fit these types of players on a top-tier team..

Bass could be a nice 4th big, especially coming off a year playing in a good system that needed it to negate their lack of talent..

I think if Spurs lose Green a decent option for cheap would be Alexey Shved. Seems like a player who would thrive under Pop

there is no replacement for Green. Honestly, there isn't. If Green's gone, Spurs will have to make up for it,but it will be a massive downgrade no matter what.

Of course, but Spurs need a starting two guard, and it certainly isn't Beli or Manu

    Damn, terrible news.

    Really hoping danny returns.

That Green and kawhi defensive duo is the biggest reason why the spurs won in 2014...

Lakers free agent Wesley Johnson is meeting with Doc Rivers and the Clippers tonight, league sources tell RealGM. LA teams, others in mix.

Too bad Friend Killer will probably resign in Cleveland, he could have been a solid addition if he hadn't upped his value after a solid stint in Cleveland (minus his god awful Finals ).. Corey Brewer may be out of the price range. Stuckey is meh. I wouldn't mind having Neal back but he is not a starter. Not really much out there in the way of SGs this off season outside of our own

    Manu's decision is key.

We really need Manu back next year.

Without him the spurs will have zero playmaking in the G position.
