Condolences, man.

the thing is, as much as people here love to crap on pop, he's an incredibly well respected figure in the community... the other day HH37 was talking about how nobody in the business outright criticizes him. it's because he's earned such a respect among his peers not only for his basketball a en, but he's always been one of the more personable coaches in the league.
the way he visited duncan in st croix and spent time with him, etc. the way how despite all his success in basketball, he routinely tells people that there are more important things in life than basketball...
you see the great relationship he has with coaches around the league, whether or not they've been on his staff. you see opposing players go out of their way to greet him before and after games.
so even though erin was never in the spotlight, people around the league are hurting right now
Condolences, man.

Always liked Oakley but kind of surprised with such a sweet and gracious statement. Seems like Pop has everyone's respect among the league, and that's nice to see. Don't know what to expect from tonight's game, it's going to be surreal for the players and fans alike.
As much as I have been aggravate with Pop lately, my heart goes out to him and his family.
Regardless how I feel about Pop now, you gotta respect a 40 y/o marriage. I can't imagine how hard it is for Pop right now. My condolences.
This series was on its way to be over quickly but with the team this emotionally affected I don’t think their hearts will be in it tonight. I expect them to be distracted and for this game to not go well anyways. “Players are human too”
RIP...rooting for him rest of the series
The only compaboe death I can think, in scope of reach and coverage, of is Monty Williams wife. Can't think of any recent coach who lost a spouse. Craig Sager also pretty close in coverage.
I wonder if this was sudden. I know she was dealing with this for years but I don't think Mrs. Pop was necessarily on her deathbed. Can't imagine Pop would've taken the trip to GS if he knew he only had her for a couple more days. I'm so sad for him.![]()
Man all BS aside this is probably the worst time of his entire life. ing tragic...happy he has a great support system around him.
Green, Manu, & Kerr have all commented how they were shocked, so it does seem (at least from the outside looking in) that it was sudden. Kerr said it was shocking & unexpected
wow...I didn't even think of that.
Pop's quote "it's only basketball" rings true in this case.
RIP Mrs. Popovich. Regardless of my issues with Pop, I feel bad for him and especially the kids. Thoughts and prayers for the family.
I'm glad the Spurs were the 7th seed and had Games 3 and 4 in San Antonio, allowed Pop to be there with Erin.
I bet some of you feel like real assholes right about now.
Why did Parker have that smirk when asked about it?
What the
KD had it too. That's why he covered his mouth. They emotionally immature, tbh.
I think it's just a facial expression he always has.
But tbh compared to Manu, RC or anybody else who spoke yesterday, he looked so robotic, unemotional...
This guy LOOKS cold as ...
Surely just an impression, but it's weird..
