And that is not even taking into consideration SA has been a playoff team making runs and these aren’t even lottery picks. Yet SA youth are step for step with most teams outside of a great prospect (Tatum, Mitc , Simmons) here or there.
The Spurs bit on the deal because no other serious bids for Nephew occurred - the "Group" made it clear before the deal that it would be a one year rental for any team not in LA.
The Clippers will pay Max dollar for a soon to be declining player with Chronic Knee and Quad issues. The issues with the Laker roster along with LeBron running the team will turn it into a one team race for the "Group".

#2 could have mitigated a lot of the problems we see here now, but his at ude and effort would have been compromised in SA with all the poison being spewed by his people. It's too bad. The guy will likely be a shadow of himself by the time he hits 30 years old.
It’s all relative. There were draft pick packages available with draft picks where SA could have gone that direction. They chose and actively sought out a win-now player.
All nba defense gets it wrong all the time... Though Murray is a good defender but doesn't automatically make him great he is a prospect with a lot of promise... But every team overrates their young players even Celts fans.
Plus many of the Spurs young players turn to crap after they leave and or look less than stellar away from the Pop system including Simmons, Kyle and Dedmon mist recently... So there is that.
I like both guys (White/Murray) though not talking .
Forbes and Bertans are cool but just specialists. They are prime candidates to suck when they leave SA...
Sure. I’m just saying all things considered sa has great youth (meaning plenty of youth, some with higher ceilings, some lower, but all nba level players)
Good news at least coach Bud is out there running a similar system... Bertans and Forbes could thrive there too
Acquiring Nikola vucevic
No it wasn't. The Clipper deal(Tobias, 12 and 13 and keep Green) right before the draft was better.
The Spurs dragged their feet too long in trading Leonard. They miscalculated that he really was done with the Spurs. Draft night was the time to pull the trigger on a block buster trade and get a lottery pick or two in a deal.
I think it was the opposite. I think they should have waited, kept Kawhi into this year and called his bluff that he sits 2 seasons in a row in a contract year.
We saw Tobias Harris on an expiring deal net more than Kawhi. Kawhi’s value could not have gotten any lower. Him showing he was healthy would have improved SA chances at getting something great. But that is hindsight
The funny thing is it doesn’t matter if we make the playoffs or if we don’t lol I’m always ride or die with my spurs and want them to succeed but no team has a chance to beat the warriors anyways
But Leonard made it clear he wanted to go to the Lakers. So not the same as Tobias Harris. Why would anyone trade something great for him for two months and lose him.
Because he’s 10x the player Harris is and while Harris never demanded a trade, he’s a free agent next season with no guarantees of signing in PHI.
But Harris was not coming of an "injury" who sidelined him for an entire season. An "injured" very rusty kawhi Leonard is not 10x the player Harris is in the eyes of all GM's before they actually see him play. , he might not be better period. You can never trade top talent and top picks for a case like his. Masai is a top GM but it was obvious that he had stopped believing in Derozan, he wanted to move on and gamble and our FO thought that with a change of scenery Derozan would come alive again(he finished the season absolutely terrible), they were wrong.
I miss our 5 game winning streak![]()
