Spurs are right there with both of these teams without Kawhi. SA can pass them next season too. They are all evenly matched. Just depends on what happens with GS next season.
Spurs aren't doing in the playoffs with LMA, Patty & DeChoken.

SA almost knocked DEN out on the road in game 7 where they played awful. POR didn’t play great, but still got them.

And now a WCF to look forward to! 5-game GS victory with Lillard averaging 7/25 per game, and a media storm of Curry vs Curry diarrhea.

The Spurs don't have a bench. You think Bertans, Belli and Mills were going to win us games?

Does not mean Spurs will take dat leap especially with DD and LMA as the stars.
Spurs need White Murray or Walker to take a leap to be a contender.
LMA and DD have had moments in playoffs past but can't see either dropping 37 in a must win game 7 on the road like CJ just did

LMA dropped 35 on the road vs HOU in game 6 to get to the WCF. But sure, nothing is guaranteed. Point is SA is right there. Some will rise like POR did, some will fall like UTA/SA did. Doesn’t change the fact they are in the mix.

The guys you mentioned are exactly why SA should be excited. They have youth capable of taking them to the next level; many of these other teams do not.

Lonnie, Murray, White, Poeltl, Bertans - ya I think they can be solid.

Lma is worthless. Just like every other current nba player. This is a high volume league built for low iq players who only can shoot the ball with a million defensive rules. Nba and nfl built for dumb fans who think wrestling, movies, and their favorite sports are real.

I'm excited to see what the young guys can do next year. I'm not optimistic however, given Pop's tendency to go with his guys. Our young guys will likely be riding the pine when it matters.

Murray didn’t ride the pine when healthy and that was with TP/Manu still on the team. White didnt ride the pine this year. They will play.

Feel bad for Joker tbh. Got screwed by his awful supporting cast of scrubs. Murray's performance was unforgivable.

I follow you on Twitter and you have some solid takes... just like here, but you tend to be bit homerish there.
Of course Spurs as of today have as good a chance as many other fauxtenders.
Great coach, great system and two fringe all star players.
But unless another Kawhi is lurking... 2nd round is best you can expect if the bracket breaks correctly.

Well, ya, that was the point. Other than GS its all about the bracket. If GS breaks up, the West is really open. No one is THAT far ahead. Nothing is guaranteed but getting a 1st Team All NBA defender in Murray back, White continuing to grow. Optimism is warranted IMO

Only one that has the potential to be an offense threat is Lonnie and let's see what happens next year before saying they can compete with Portland's proven bench.

I would say WCF instead of 2nd round. The Spurs certainly could have beaten the Blazers.

    Sure, maybe...
But again if you don't have hca who is dropping 37 on the road? Even Whites big game vs Denver is a bit of a fluke because he played college ball there.

Don't see anyone in their current state of play doing that to beat a better team on the road.

I wanted to see Nuggets win this game. Neither Blazers or Nuggets can beat the Warriors but I thought Warriors vs Nugget series would have been fun to watch. Jokic is one of the few bigs that Draymond has struggled to guard. It would have been fun to watch Draymond vs Jokic match up. Curry-Klay has owned Lillard-CJ the last few years.

Well I said based on potential, but what does moon landing deniability have to do with scoring?

Well, Kyrie sure missed plenty of shots in these playoffs tbh.......
