    intriguing legal landscape in MS

Fun fact: Mississippi is the only state in the US which lacks any statutory provision for an electoral recount

There's one and only one count, which is final. period.

However, the losing candidate can still *contest* the election

Mississippi statutes create a comprehensive framework for *contest* of election results

MS Code §§ 23-15-951 to 23-15-957 provides that a qualified person desiring to challenge election results may file a pe ion in circuit court within 20 days of an election

Ludicrously, these provisions call for a *jury trial*, with the trial presenting evidence and the jury reaching a verdict on which candidate won more legal votes

The jury's verdict is supposed to decide the true winner of the election

The language of this provision is barely changed since 1826
