Just got back from the game. Pacers lost their legs in the 4th. The Spurs stepped up their D but the Pacers just wore down in all actuality.
I could not for the life of me figure out why the Spurs didn't push the ball more. Walk it up....walk it up....walk it up. It wasn't until Manu came back in during the 3rd pd. and really took it up-tempo a couple of times (and TP saw and followed suit) did the Spurs finally push the pace.

When Manu came out of the tunnel for pre-game warmup, he was grinning from ear to ear and those that were in their seats cheered. He was so happy to be back and you could tell that the rest of the team was very happy as well.

Spurs played better than they did against Detroit (not that that was hard), but they still have a long ways to go.
Dallas plastered the Pacers the night before, and even though they were on a back-to-back, they were beating the Spurs to the loose balls. The boxing out on offensive rebounds continued to suck. Hopefully Manu can start to step in and be that third consistent offensive option, but the defense is what really needs polishing.
WTF was the deal with Tinsley tonight? He was jawing from the first seconds of the game and didn't stop until after the last buzzer. I really wanted Bruce to take the suspenson and just lay him out.
Nobody in double digits in rebounding, it seems like the Spurs have been getting out-rebounded these past 4-5 games.

In return from injury, Ginobili sparks Spurs past Pacers
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- When he arrived at the SBC Center on Tuesday, Manu Ginobili didn't know if he would be sitting out yet another game.
But Ginobili talked coach Gregg Popovich into letting him play, then made his biggest contributions at just the right time.
Ginobili, who missed eight games with a sprained right foot, made a free throw and two layups to start the decisive third-quarter run as the San Antonio Spurs pulled away for a 99-86 win over the Indiana Pacers.
"I came to the arena with a jacket on, so I didn't know if I was going to play or not," Ginobili said. "But I convinced Pop to let me play. I thought that it was really important to get some confidence back."
Tony Parker led the Spurs with 27 points and Ginobili added nine on 3-for-7 shooting.
The Pacers led 60-57 midway through the third after a layup by Jamaal Tinsley, but the Spurs took control with a 16-3 spurt.
After Ginobili's points, Parker added a pair of free throws and a layup, and Robert Horry made the first of his two 3-pointers. At the other end, the Spurs held Indiana without a basket for more than 4½ minutes beginning late in the third.
"The defense seemed to get better as the game went on," Popovich said. "It's a progression we like to see."
Indiana made 12 of its first 19 shots (63 percent), but missed 21 of its first 31 attempts in the second half en route to its third straight loss.
"We have to establish some consistency," Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said. "We have to have more intensity on defense because that leads to opportunities on offense."
The Pacers trimmed San Antonio's lead to 76-71 early in the fourth on a short jumper by Jermaine O'Neal. Tim Duncan then banked in a 14-footer and swished a 16-footer, both over Jeff Foster, and Nazr Mohammed made a basket to restore the lead to double digits with 5 minutes remaining.
"Right now we are just an average team," said O'Neal, who led the Pacers with 26 points. "Elite teams find a way to make plays."
Duncan added 26 points for the Spurs. No other Spurs were in double figures.
Tinsley scored 20 for Indiana, while Fred Jones had 14 and Stephen Jackson 13.
Ginobili entered the game to a long standing ovation with 4:36 left in the first quarter and the Spurs down 18-15. He quickly found Parker with a pass for a layup and then hit a 10-foot jumper while falling out of bounds to even the score at 20.
Parker and Duncan each had 11 points in the first, but the Pacers' accurate shooting put them up 29-27 after one.
A 3-pointer by San Antonio's Nick Van Exel tied it at 38 midway through the second, but the Spurs then went scoreless for more than 3 minutes.
Indiana built its lead to six points late in the period before Ginobili made two free throws and Parker had a breakaway layup to cut the Pacers' lead to 48-46 at halftime.
O'Neal scored 10 points in the second and finished the half with 17.

SAN ANTONIO -- If losses at Cleveland or Dallas weren't an indication, Tuesday's loss to the San Antonio Spurs should give the Indiana Pacers a better perspective on what type of team they are.
Key player
Tim Duncan didn't do anything flashy. He just had a typical all-star performance by finishing with 26 points and nine rebounds.
Key to the game
The Spurs went on a 10-0 run late in the third and early in the fourth quarter to break a 63-63 tie. The Pacers didn't get any closer than five points the rest of the game.
Three games. Three losses to playoff-caliber teams, something the Pacers still feel they are.
The Pacers put up a fight for more than three quarters, but in the end, they still dropped their third straight game, 99-86 Tuesday night to the Spurs at the SBC Center.
"We're kind of in a funk right now for whatever reason," Pacers point guard Anthony Johnson said. "We're just not jelling and our chemistry is not there."
At the start of the season, Tuesday's game was viewed as a preview of a potential NBA Finals matchup.
San Antonio looks like a team that's ready to return to the Finals.
The Pacers? They're too busy right now searching for their iden y as they wait to find out who will take Ron Artest's spot on the roster.
"I think we are searching," Pacers rookie Sarunas Jasikevicius said. "We went into the season with a certain iden y, and obviously things are changing right now. We have one of the best players in the league and a good coaching staff and good veterans. It's a tough stretch right now."
Things seemed to be going well for the Pacers early on when Artest went on the inactive list, but things have changed now that they're facing tougher compe ion.
"Three losses to playoff teams, but we're a playoff-caliber team," Johnson said. "Albeit on the road, you have to find a way to win these types of games. It was there for the taking and we let this one get away from us."
The Pacers put up a better effort than they did the previous night in Dallas, but it just wasn't enough against one of the most disciplined teams in the league.
The Pacers shot nearly 53 percent from the field and were outrebounded by one (20-19). They went into the locker room at the half with a lead.
It wasn't until San Antonio's Michael Finley made a layup with 10:29 left in the third quarter that the Spurs got their first lead since the first quarter.
San Antonio went on a 10-0 run that stretched into the final quarter to take a 73-63 lead with 9:46 left in the game. But the Pacers stayed composed and attempted to remain within striking distance.
The difference between the Pacers and Spurs became obvious in the fourth quarter. While San Antonio was able to get baskets from one its veteran players -- a layup by Tim Duncan or a lucky bounce on a Robert Horry 3-pointer -- the Pacers were searching to come up with points as the Spurs slowly pulled away.
"In the fourth quarter, the Spurs were just better," Jasikevicius said.
The Pacers had a tough time containing Spurs point guard Tony Parker. Parker had his way by getting through the lane for countless layups. He finished with 27 points and six assists.
Duncan added 26 points and nine rebounds.
Forward Jermaine O'Neal, who was questionable after his back locked up on him before the game, led the Pacers with 26 points and seven rebounds.
"We competed hard from start to finish," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "It came down to Duncan making some tough shots. They hit that lucky 3 from the corner, which was a bad break for us. We hung in and played and gave ourselves a chance till the last minute. It's three losses in a row. There's no moral victories. You have to find a way to win games."

even so, you can't be surprised when an horry 3 goes in late in a game. the only thing surprising is that it did this early in the season.
