I didn't bother to read the thread, but I saw it and replayed it a few times when I saw it because I knew it was intentional, and I knew he'd be suspended if they reviewed it.

They never reviewed that Alston/Duncan one so I wasn't sure but I knew if they did he'd be suspended...

I pretty much assumed he's be fined when I saw it was being reviewed - but after reading the rules I can see why the suspension happened. Dude has to miss game time, the NBA can't go back to game 1 and can't make him miss only part of a game.

I said I was surprised by the suspension, but didn't necessarily disagree. I would not have suspended him, but clearly understand why the league did. And I am certainly not going to feel sorry for a guy who took SEVERAL other cheap shots during the game, nor apologize to his fans.

This is so ridiculous...I know the Spurs need help if they are going to repeat as champions but it was Ginobili who threw an elbow at Artest & caused Artest to get s ches! You have to wonder if the NBA office even sees these games! Poor Kings!

Artest was trying to steal the ball from Manu when he got hit in the mouth. Incidental contact happens when you try to steal the ball and you are lunging forward with your hand, arm, shoulder and FACE.

When Artest hit Manu.... where was the ball? Who had it???? Anyone???

I didn't know you had to be a homer to use eyes to see Artest take a deliberate cheap shot to someone above the shoulders to intentionally hurt him, especially after a 1 year suspension for violence. Thanks for the tip.

Just heard on Jim Rome that the league has suspended Ron Artest (without pay) for his flagrant foul on Manu Ginobili. Don't yet have a link on the official word.

Rome stated he just received an email from the NBA office confirming the suspension.

Damn, Sacramento ought to appeal and then have the league rule him ineligible for game THREE in Sacramento. We'd have a home court advantage for game two in any case and should win it. But with their best player out in game 3, they'd be so far down that the series would be all but over.

This will only make them stronger for the remaining games.

I agree it's about intent. I agree that it was likely intentional. I just don't think he should have been suspended. If they caught it in the game, maybe they should have ejected him. He definitely should have been fined. But I don't think he should have been suspended.

I agree if we're talking about any other player, but Artest is different. I would have been fine with a fine, but the more I think about it I would probably suspend Artest if he looked at someone wrong. The guy put himself in a position where he needs to be a saint, at least for more than a few weeks.

After watching the replay again, you can see a series of flops by Manu. He runs into Brad Miller and then flops. He tries to get around him, flops again. Then Manu hooks Brad Miller (a foul). And then Manu gets hit and flops again.
