We'll have to wait and see you guys. Its only been six days. Yes players like Wallace, Peja, and Pryzbilla have signed, but did we really want those guys? Maybe some were okay with Joel Pryzbilla, but there are still some FAs out there that can still fill the Spurs needs. I know my patience is running thin, but I have a good feeling the Spurs front office will do a good job.
    yes, i really wanted wallace.

    It's Bowen/Finley/Williams
Then Manu/Nobody if the Magloire trade happens.
And plus if we have Finley as the backup SG, we can't have Williams as our backup SF.
What the are you talking about? Finley has always backed up Manu. Eric Williams, if he does play here, will be the backup SF seeing as how he is one.

    Barry backed up Manu.
Manu was always the first man to the bench, and Finley was always the first man off the bench. It was like this:

Manu goes out, Finley comes in. Bruce goes out, Finley goes to SF and Brent comes into SG or Manu goes in for Bruce and Barry comes in for Finley.

A couple of years ago. Heart failure, I think. My post wasn't intended to be disrespectful to him, but to sort of laugh at the people who are desperately digging for a center.

    It's all Ok.

But getting back on topic about our "desperate" need for a center, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Manute Bol yet. (Or did I miss that post?)

The Spurs will find someone to fill out the roster. Just be patient.

    Could it be the Spurs?

    Hornets Not Finished
Jul 6 - The Oklahoman reports team insiders have said that the Hornets are working on one last trade that involves disgruntled guard Arvydas Macijauskas as well as one last free-agent signing and that both moves are expected to be completed by next week.

That's the guys who wanted out of NO so bad because of problems with coach Byron Scott that he said "mountains of gold" couldn't bring him back. You need Insider for that link to work btw.

Would y'all replace Barry with Greg Buckner? Maybe add Williams? Because I'm thinkin we will trade him with Scola for Magloire.

    It would be like:
    PG Parker/Pargo/Udrih
    SG Manu/Buckner
    SF Bowen/Finley
    PF Duncan/Bonner/Horry
    C Javtokas/Magloire

    IR1 Oberto
    IR2 Sanders
    IR3 Marks

You think it's too harsh to put Oberto on the IR?

How about Jackie Bulter and Trevor Ariza for half the MLE each, and a vet mnin point guard...

    TP/Beno/vet
    Manu/Finley/Barry
    Bowen/Williams/Ariza
    TD/Bonner/Horry
    Butler/Javtokas/Oberto

I'd be happy to go to war with that, and tweak it with a trade or two during the season if needs be...

I'm asking this question again: Is there a time limit on bringing Scola over? For instance, if the Spurs wanted to wait until August to do it would there be any reason they couldn't?

I doubt anyone who hasn't actually seen his contract knows for sure, but I suspect that his Tau contract has some kind of a window for exercising his buyout for the year. Otherwise, we could wait until midseason to bring him in.

If we sign any kind of center and don't trade Oberto, he's going to be on the inactive list. No way we keep 6 post players active. By the same token, if we have 6 other post players, there's no way we bring Marks back.

The Spurs do their best work under the radar -- summer league and D-league guys. Look at Udonis Haslem, Devin Brown, Raja Bell, all guys whom the Spurs "discovered" and had in summer league or got from D-league. Even if they eventually wound up elsewhere.

No need to overpay, just work the vinyards, get what you can and then let the next guy overpay for who you found.

The real danger is the big free agent signing, not failure to do so. Just consult your Spurs history book. In golf they say, you drive for show and you put for dough. For the Spurs, it's you draft for show and you scout for dough -- the D-league and summer leagues, that is. The Spurs will get a big man who can play D (if not score a lot) for close to the minimum and at some point during the season the national media will say "How do they keep doing that?"

I can't wait to see the summer league roster.

Good take. Could it be that the same people that are angry at the Spurs for not signing Joel Przybilla were also angry at the Spurs for not signing Chris Webber and Jason Kidd?

I didn't know who to put because people say Javtokas is better but others say Magloire is better so I just put whatever. But would you replace Barry with Buckner if we trade for Magloire?
