You should go take a nap.
Something always seems to happen ya'll do and in this case hopefully your scenario wins out.
Except that it sounds like the SPurs were anticipating Elson starting, and bringing Bonner and Butler off the bench, while the adjust to the SPurs' system.
If Elson is matched, who would you start? Bonner or Butler?
You should go take a nap.

Probably neither. I'd want to start whoever they get with the rest of the MLE until Butler gets acclimated. And then Butler later in the season.
Hey, I was just thinking of taking a nap. I only slept 2 hours.
Well there ya go..![]()
Since my vBookie bet was "Nuggs match, Knicks don't" we are probably stuck with Elson.![]()
I'll go ahead and say this now, in case the Nuggets don't decide to match.
Although I'm not a big Elson fan, and I'd prefer to see the Spurs sign someone else... the Spurs don't have a 7-footer. A 7-footer comes in handy when going up against some of the bigger centers like Yao, Shaq, Ilgauskas, etc.
The Spurs had a 7-footer with similar stats and attributes on the 2002-03 championship team. Kevin Willis.
He didn't block shots but he played decent, physical D and set screens. He was fast and could run the floor. Kevin contributed 4.2 ppg and 3.2 rpg that season averaging 11 mpg.
Elson has offered similar things to Denver the past 3 seasons. He's a legitimate 7-footer, a fast Big who runs the floor well, he isn't afraid to get physical, and 4.1 ppg and 3.1 rpg in a few more mpg (17).
That's what I'm talking about, right there.

That was next to Duncan too.
Duncan makes guys better, and who knows, Elson could and might play alot better next Duncan.
I think though, Denver matches.
If they do, Id go after Evans HARD.
The market is running short on bigs.
Miss the rest of the post?![]()
Name the last big who put up better numbers next to Duncan than away from him.
Oops.
If Elson gets matched I have a feeling the Spurs would pursue another Center type. Any dreams of Ariza, Jones or Woods seem fruitless, but hopefully I'm wrong.
David Robinson hasn't done since he left the team.![]()
Malik RoseName the last big who put up better numbers next to Duncan than away from him.
I'm even-ing you out, then. My whole, whopping $25 was put on neither matching. That should be some decent consolation.![]()
How about a player who was still in their prime before or after joining the Spurs?
It is not realistic to plan on a big man's stats going up alongside Tim.
Regarding Elson, I just can't believe the Nuggets will match. He'll be a Spur soon enough
Think about it. He sucks to begin with, that's a given. On top of that, he really wants to come to the Spurs. Imagine the stats he'd put up in the playoffs next season considering he sucks AND doesn't want to be there. I can't even comprehend numbers so low.
Plus they are enough under the luxury tax to either re-sign Reggie Evans or go after an MLE level player. Keith Van Horn actually makes sense for them because they have no shooting on that team.
And my final point is they have enough centers. They have Camby with Nene as the backup center. Then KMart (for now), Najera and Kleiza as power forwards. They just don't need him.
The new GM of the Nuggets is just making the Spurs sweat. Wankenstein or whatever and Karl are probably laughing their azzes off in thoughts of actually matching. There's a better chance of Boykins playing power forward this year.
You said big man.How about a player who was still in their prime before or after joining the Spurs?
I gave you one.
i was looking back at the lisst of BIGS availaible and timvp evaluations. and i like voskuhl profile. Anyone else think he would be ok as a possible solution if elson is matched?
not that i am a big fan of his but out of what is still available other then by trades...
I think the spurs should go after Melvin Ely, because the bobcats just signed Ot a Harrington another bigman so they probably wont have room for Ely with May, Okafor, Harrington, etc
Ely would be a good choice.
plus he is 2 years younger than Elson
