I learned spanish because I was born in Argentina, a spanish-speaking country in South America. All of my family speaks spanish, and therefor I was taught to speak spanish.

No because a good majority of them do. Not all, but there aren't very many that don't. A lot of them think that just because they are of Hispanic descent that their Spanish is good and so they don't pay attention in class, but really they can't hold a conversation for more than about a minute. If it makes you feel any better, I'll add that a lot of students in Texas also speak very poor English.

Most spanish speakers in texas dont speak spanish anyways... they speak tex mex... they mix it together with their english.. and everyone does it. there isnt a necessity to learn 100% correct spanish ... because nobody speaks it down here anyways.
