i think you keep bonner...he's your hustle/dirty work player.
He's not too small, he's just not good enough to be getting the minutes he gets...simple as that.
i think you keep bonner...he's your hustle/dirty work player.
IMO Oberto is gone.
Hes a veteran, and there have been some instances where you read teams were "interested"
Its not gonna be for a player, but for a second rounder probobly this year, and the way people feel about second round picks all of a sudden, this place will explode![]()
Jerry West?
Atkins is on that team....
If the Clippers came and said Barry and Butler for maggette, id pack Butler and Barry's bags for em.
Unless he's the guy the Clippers want for Maggette...then he's GONE!
Again, the Spurs have wanted this guy for a long, long time. Perhaps they see something in him that others haven't seen.
Perhaps he played in a summer league somewhere and caught their eye. Hmmm . . .
his lack of hops make him small and he's too weak...but you could cover all that by saying that he's not good enough![]()
If you trade Oberto for Atkins.
You get Melvin Ely and Chucky Atkins for Eric Williams and Fabricio Oberto.
Does this team jump back into contention with phoenix and Dallas?
BTW, would you say Ely is like an udonis haslem type player?![]()
How nice of you...![]()
The only thing is, you're giving up a great three point shooter. It's not like Finley is going to fill that void.
Brent, Oberto, Beno + Scola's rights, cash, and picks for Maggette and Livingston.
I could see it if Butler is truly a forward-looking project and the Spurs believe that they can use one or more of the other bigs as a quasi-wing, almost like Pop did with Malik at times. But I'm not sure that either premise is true right now. I guess one possibility is that Bonner will essentially become a 3-ish type player (he basically was that before) and with Butler not playing at all, the Spurs are only then carrying 5 guys who will play in the 4/5 positions.
But with the way that they've been battered athletically this season, one would think this organization would be quite uncomfortable with the notion of relying on a bulky 6'10" guy with a bad knee to get out on the floor and defend long wings.
I just hope Pop doesn´t play this small ball bull that much anymore.
Another 3rd stringer for the spurs.
I think the bobcats are under minimum cap, so they lose nothing by trading for bigger contract, plus they will be compensated by the spurs with cash.
Much to my regret, I have to agree it's Oberto who is the odd man out. With Bonner getting back and now Ely, and considering Horry is practically untradeable and Elson and Butler fit the C spot better, I think it's him who'll be on his way in short.
They better! , I'd throw in my kid sister's virginity if it helps.
Of course the Clippers still wouldn't do it.
It would be the least i could do since I wont attend a home game till Aprilhow nice of you![]()
yeah...to maggette
Uh the Clippers wouldn't trade Livingston for Iverson. It's safe to say they wouldn't trade him for Beno.
Maggette draws fouls like crazy and even when his shot isn't going down, he averages 80% from the FT line. When you have "shooters" and the shots aren't falling it aint good. As good as Barry is, he's not automatic from long range and his driving ability has diminished with age.
Did the Spurs make this trade already knowing they have another deal in the works including one of their bigs?
WTF is Buddy Holly smoking![]()
But you and I would have done Barry + Beno + chump change for Maggette, too.
The question is, would the Spurs do it?
to a return to spurs ball. i think ely has the athleticism to keep us big.
