I love Runner Susan! And she has some very cute shoes!![]()
The vintage round toe heels at the top of the page and the second pair of peep-toe Mary Janes gave me a fashion-gasm.
The Steve and Barry's here is a shamble, merchadise thrown every where, very limited size selection, no pride as far as displays were concerned. All in all was not the quality store I was expecting a star to chose to market their clothes in, although maybe it is just this San Antonio location that is so poorly taken care of.
That said I did find a printed shirt, a necklace, a clutch and matching pair of shoes, all of which just cost me $32.
I needed the things to go with a new pair of jeans I bought. The jeans were $40 marked down to $10- yea me.
I wish Steve and Barry's had been in better shape, the mess the shop was in really took away from the products. Also sales attendents were very hard to identify and find.
As cute as my outfit is, there was nothing about what I saw today that has me anxious to make the trip back across town to go back.
Oh well, bad on them.
I think I might go back to the store just one more time and learn my sizes in the shoes, shirts etc and order online. That way I can avoid the mess and still have my cute stuff.
That's too bad, V. Did you get all SJP's stuff? If so, let us know how it holds up after a few washings. I'm very curious to see.
It might have been just your store, though. My friend lives up in Highland Village and there is one near her. She didn't mention anything like your experience and believe me, she would have if she had encoutered it. She picked up one shirt and wants to see how well it holds up before buying more.
I think it was the store. I would try another location or two, in austin or wherever before writing off the chain.
More than anything I felt bad for Sarah Jessica because I truly believe she would be disappointed with the way her items were being represented. The store did her merchandise a real diservice.
My items are all SJP's stuff. Her clothes are why I went in the first place.
I usually don't go for name brands but I am a big Sarah Jessica fan and also love reasonable prices.
What I like about the t-shirt I bought is that it is figure flattering so I felt cute even though I was just in a t-shirt and jeans.
Also the shirt is long enough so that does not ride up when you sit down- a very refreshing change from what they sell nowadays.
I didn't like the selection of jeans- didn't feel there was enough to chose from and the styles available did not flatter me.
However, by the time I got around to looking at jeans I was frustrated with the store lay out and staff, so maybe I missed something.
In addition to the Shoe blog - http://shoeblitz.com. I also got hired to write a beauty/style blog at http://SheKnows.com/beauty.
I would appreciate your visits and comments on the blogs. Me making money from my writing jobs keeps this forum running ad free. So the more visitors I can get, the better.
Thanks.
Another great site! I left a few comments. Does it have a live bookmark? Now that I know what they are, I think they'e great.
Of course, it's early and I lack in sleep thanks to the t-storms that were so loud they set off my neighbor's car alarm.
Nice site Kori. I left some comments and will try to re visit semi regularly.
The hints are helpful.
I love both websites, i was browsing and reading and even leaving comments when my insomnia struck last night. Keep the great work going Kori!
I had to return something at Nordtrom's today and they were having a shoe sale. (sigh) I picked up a couple of shoes, I included the pictures below. I'm still not sure about the brown, they were really comfy for the size heel. The red is more of a deep dark red, not as bright as the flash makes it look. The red are a total frivolous buy, I can't think of too may outfits I have that would go with that pair.

Great site. When I have some time I will sit down and comment on it. I noticed that patent leather is in, there were so many different colored patent leather shoes at Nordtrom's.
Flea - both pairs of those shoes are terrific! I really like the brown ones.
Thanks to everyone for reading (and commenting).
Kori were you the one to write the Abed Mahfouz article on SheKnows? I absolutely love some of his designs, that red dress was looking so pretty as well.
Kori-Thanks for the shoeblitz link. Your "Hard To Find Sizes" site hit the spot for me.
My son wears size 18 and he's still growing! Shoes are always an issue for him.
Thanks for letting me in on a site I didn't know about!
(Yes, I left a comment. Anything to help you after all you do for us! This board, and now shoes!!!)
Cute shoes, Flea!
The red ones can be worn with jeans a lot. On WNTW, they always pop an outfit with a red shoe or bag.
How long is the Nordstrom sale going on?
Tim Gunn's guide to style
Is a rip off of Stacey and Clinton's What Not To Wear.
I'm calling it right now.
That is all.
SmartBargains.com has three pairs of shoes for $99. The size selection is limited so you have to search, but they have some great shoes available from 9 West, Carlos Santana, Jessica Simpson, Steve Madden, BCBG, etc. I ordered six pairs of shoes yesterday and saved about $400.
Bravo's decision to air a Project Runway marathon is not very conducive to getting my homework done quickly.
Thanks Kori, I'll head over there right now.
That's a great deal, but I HAVE to try shoes on, unfortunately.
I wasn't too crazy about it and when did Veronica Webb turn into a man?
Kori,
Here's one for the shoe blog...From Marc Jacobs show.

I would love to try those on just to see how you walk in them!
Marc Jacobs show is curioser and curioser
When I said in Monday’s paper that Marc Jacobs’ show often is confusing, I hadn’t yet been to the unveiling of his spring collection, which was last night.Let me say it now, just to be clear: Marc Jacobs’ show is confusing. With a capital “C.”
First of all, Jacobs began the show the way other shows end – by coming out onto the runway at The New York Armory and waving gratefully to the crowd. Then all 50-plus models in his show paraded in a line, in the same manner that most other runway shows conclude, giving viewers a chance to see all the designer’s looks at once. After that, each model walked the catwalk individually.
The show, in other words, was intentionally backward.
But the most glaring aspect of the night’s weirdness: the clothes.
Jacobs designed a spring collection that was unfinished – literally. Dresses were absent backs or sides. Shoes were missing chunks of their heels. Bras were showing. Tuxedo pants were shockingly sheer.
I left scratching my head, and frankly a little bit dazed.
What was that I just saw??
Other newspaper editors seated next to me on the bleachers were either befuddled, tickled by the silliness of it all, or – in some cases – angry. After all, the show started two hours late, at 11 p.m., and lasted less than 15 minutes.
“We waited all that time for THIS,” a colleague complained.
“Maybe he’s still on drugs,” someone else surmised.
Another fashion writer said the presentation reminded her of “a trip down the rabbit hole.”
Jacobs is a trip, all right. One I just don’t get.
Even the “run-of-show,” which lists for participants the designer’s descriptions of each look, were curiouser and curioser.
One model was said to be wearing “two thirds of a satin gown.” Another, a “patent too small sandal.” One model was described as wearing only “crepe.”
Interestingly, Jacobs’ descriptions were, for the most part, literal. That partial gown was indeed a fraction of a dress. The “too-small” sandals left models with their heels resting on the backs of shoes – like Cinderella’s stepsisters.
The crepe thing is just inexplicable.
In just about all of Jacobs’ shows, I leave with the distinct feeling that the Emperor has no clothes – and no one wants to tell him. In this case, the Emperor had only baffling parts of clothes. And I wonder if any of the glossy fashion mags and big-time critics will say so.
On the way out of the mob-like scene that is the Marc Jacobs show, I ended up somehow standing next to fashion mogul Russell Simmons, whose forehead was beaded with sweat from standing in the crush of the exiting crowd.
I couldn’t resist asking him, since he was in such close proximity, what he thought of the show.
His answer was telling.
“I thought the production was phenomenal, and it was fun,” he said. “And it was well-produced.”
As I suspected, he said nothing about the clothes.
