I assume I hate them because they exists
they get handed to them
I love them because they're hated.
I hate them because they are a more successful franchise and it makes me feel insecure.
I hate them because they are from L.A. and I live in the middle of butt nowhere.

When I was a little kid, I liked the Lakers (when Wilt played for them). I have realized through the years how you can put a BIG FAT ASTERISK on their championships because with just about ever top player they have acquired through illegitimate means (trading away garbage for top notch players and or draft picks).
I could point out a dozen examples (and I have in earlier posts) but lets point out a fairly recent one - stealing O'Neal from Orlando while giving nothing in return. People forget this move allowed LA to send a much lesser player (Vlade Divac) in the last year of his contract to the Charlotte Hornets for the rights to Kobe Bryant. This trade was accepted by the brilliant Bob Bass, director of basketball operations for the Hornets at the time. Remember Bob Bass? The Hornets got one year out of Vlade for the rights to Kobe Bryant (one of the most stupid trades in the history of any sport).
The sense of en lement of Lakers fans is also very irritating.
If Phillip Jackson looked objectively, he could put ******** for each of the 8 championships they've won since 1980. All you have to do is at how the Lakers acquired almost every key player they've had in the last 25 years. See below.

James Worthy
Byron Scott
Shaq
Kobe Bryant
All were acquired for washed up players or less than that (with shaq only the money).
I'll be glad when Bryant's body gives out and the Lakers have to rebuild legitimately at some point. They've not had rebuild legitimately in their modern history. Hopefully, Memphis is out of top players to give away.

Yeah, intentionally tanking a season and faking injuries to do so is a way more honest way to build a team.
Your team wouldn't even have Tissue Timmy if they don't intentionally tank the prior season and you and I know it. The NBA had to change the lottery rules after that fiasco, as usual the *purs are pushing the rules a bit beyond the limits of good taste.
Just tell your "big 3" to stop playing basketball like they are on roller skates, they are taking the flopping thing to almost Stockton-eque levels.

I don't hate anything sports related because its just sports but the one thing that I dislike about LA is Phil Jackson. He is a good coach but has a blatant disrespect for opponents and for the game. I guess I am old school but I believe you respect everyone but fear no one. I actually have less dislike for them now than I did when Shaq was there pretty much for the same reasons as I stated for Jackson. He continues to prove my theory that he is the second best basketball coach in Los Angeles.
Cause Phil crybaby Jackson gets more calls his way than any other coach in the NBA.

I know every team in the NBA loses anywhere from two to 10 games thanks to calls or non-calls being wrong in the last minute of play, but they need something in the rules for next year to prevent something this egregious.
After the game, though, is when Kobe reminded me to dislike him. When asked about the call, Kobe said with that smug look on his face: “he fouled the out of me.”
Yeah, whatever, liar.
Then there’s Phil Jackson. If you look at his post-game interviews, after every loss he complains about the officials. He’s usually stealthy about it, sometimes blatant, but he can continue to coach while George Karl gets suspended for it. The ironic thing is that Phil Jackson has been the beneficiary of more bad calls than any active coach in the NBA.
Right now the Lakers aren’t a team I want to do well so they can be beaten in the playoffs. I want them beaten every night. I am a fan of any team playing them.

You would be correct in your focus on the steak, but you would be missing the bounty of goodness that is all around in LA.
I want to beat the Lakers into submission and rip their hearts out, but for some reason I don't hate them... yet. I hate their fans more than anything.
I kinda respect that they made it back to being one of the top teams in the West. After last season, did anyone really think they'd be the #1 seed in the West? I'm glad they're back though, I love the rivalry we have with them. Phx and the Mavs are true punk es; the Lakers were the mountain we had to climb. They used to beat us like a red headed stepchild, but we finally ended their run.
Now, its payback for '04.

The man is brilliant. His style is incomparable and his fingerprints are all over the Lakers. He is great because he understands and communicates the mentality of championship basketball on a deeper mental AND spiritual level. You don't understand it, but that never stopped the naive and ignorant before, so keep running your mouth.
Ya know what? The Spurs aren't even my primary team. The Rockets are. But I am more of a Spurs fan than you. Wow..just wow. I can't believe you can sit there and call yourself a Spurs fan.

As much as Spurs fans hate the Lakers, they respect the out of them more than any other team. If they deny it, they are lying to themselves. They might respect the Piston fans more and all but they respect this Laker team beceause they have had the most success against them in the Duncan era than anyone else has. They are the most hated rival they have ever had. The Mavs dont even come close. Phil Sucks bumper stickers were on the the back of spurs fans vehicles. They DESPISE yet RESPECT the Lakers more than any other team.
