Musk sues Minnesota for banning nudification apps
Elon Musk, the owner of X.AI, has filed a lawsuit against Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison challenging a state law banning AI “nudification” features.
The bill calls for a penalty of $500,000 for each unlawful access or download of images altered using AI technology to make someone appear naked or even worse.
During this past Minnesota legislative session, the House passed the bill 132-1, and the Senate passed it 65-0.
The lawsuit filed by X.AI says the company already prohibits its users from generating nude or sexualized images of people without their consent and claims the Minnesota statute “imposes an overbroad, content-based ban on free speech and the tools of visual expression in a clumsy attempt to prohibit ‘nudification.'”https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/...-nudification/Governor Tim Walz also responded to the lawsuit with a post on X, stating, “See you in court, creep.”
