No, I want you to show me who ever thinks Pop needs to "break Wemby down and teach him how to paint a ing fence for success to follow". Because most if not every person I've seen praises Wemby's already-great skills and only wants to add to them, instead of acting like he's some broken player for Pop to fix up. The general consensus by far seems to be that Pop can add to Wemby, not break him.
Secondly, words are just words, to be used in proper context. Cue Michael Scott's "you don't call re ed people re s..." bit. Ultimately, my point being, no need to play this antagonistic "Jedi turns Sith" stuff and attack others for their opinions. That's exactly what's killing discussion in the forum, it's really un-engaging.

I haven’t been listening to Locked On Spurs for a while, but I’m pretty sure Garcia still calls Wemby « Wembanyana »…
Victor could only hope to be anywhere close to Hassan Whiteside though
I just still can’t believe how much he’s improved already. Everyone was pretty confident he’d be a superstar…but from what I remember the clear consensus was that it’d take him a while to adjust, he’d need to build out his frame, etc etc. I thought he’d be a defensive force in year 1 but would struggle quite a bit offensively for the first year or 2.
It’s taken him 60 games to become a top 3 defender in the league while putting up 20+ ppg on great efficiency…truly insane we’re witnessing. It’s totally shifted the timeline of the Spurs competing for a le. I’m fully on board the “get Wemby some help ASAP” train at this point.
Pacers forum:
03-03-2024, 09:35 PMYep the NBA is cooked with Wemby, I’m glad Pacers didn’t tank and let Hield win some games for pride.
Is he already top 10 in the league? These last couple of games he has looked like the best player in the court by far and he played against an MVP candidate in SGA and an arguably top 10 player in Haliburton.
Victor Wembanyama joins David Robinson (2x) and Tim Duncan as the only rookies in NBA history to record 30+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 5+ blocks in a game.
He might not be top 10 right now, but I bet some teams would consider trading their top 10 player for him going forward. Maybe.
Just depends on how much weight you put into the past 30 days. I don’t blame someone for saying we need to see him do this for a longer period of time before putting him in that tier…but honestly he’s absolutely in that 10-15 range for me at this point.
At this point I truly wouldn’t be surprised if he’s top 5 by next year after 20 more games this year + offseason filled with international ball. Sounds insane considering he won’t even be 21 at the start of the year but with the improvement he’s already shown so far…just doesn’t seem that farfetched IMO.
I think the players realize this as well. What the can you do against something like that?
How insanely lucky are we? And he could end up being the best of those three, which is mind-blowing. Lmao sucks to not be spurfan.
His coordination has grown by leaps and bounds since the beginning of the season. There were times when he looked like a baby giraffe out there still learning how to move. I can't believe how quickly he seems to have gotten these legs underneath him and he still has so much strength potential.
Lest we forget how amazing Dave was for doing that in such a different era
can't believe he took a 2nd year leap in the middle of his rookie year
Outside of Denver with Jokic, every other team would be crazy not to trade their franchise player for Wemby. This season maybe the Celtics wouldn't trade Tatum because they seem poised to ring (despite Wemby projecting to be the much better player for the next decade). But the rest? They should do it without thinking it twice.
Not only has his 3-point shot improved by a lot, but did y’all see these handles? He already tightened that up too. He took like a 3-year leap in one season
Unbelievable progression of his skills and his adjustment to the NBA.
The Championship window is officially open as soon as he gets help.
Vassell is a good piece.
Who else can we get?
All done with guards that are mostly very low IQ and / or physically inept to play NBA D.
Speaks volumes to how much better Wembys influence will be when he has teamates / coaching that adds to his talents.
At least tonight was a YUGE improvement by teamates. Still a lot of total re plays.
Had a similar conversation with a guy on the west coast tonight. He was asking if Luka asks out this summer are there any teams that wouldn't trade their franchise player for him. I said:
Giannis
Jokic
Wembanyama
All are off the table... anybody else teams would move for him. Wemby is in that class right now.
