In case you missed it, Boston College put up 41 on Howard in the first quarter on Saturday.
Both coaches agreed to shorten the second half by 10 minutes:

HORN SPORTS: Obi Eboh’s recent commitment to Charlie Strong's Longhorns has brought about more than just a talented player saying yes to the Longhorns.
Texas suddenly has inroads at the storied Southlake Carroll program. After nabbing Eboh it appears Texas could be in line to secure his extremely versatile teammate Lil’Jordan Humphrey. The class of 2016 athlete lines up all over the offense for the Dragons, and Texas has heavily recruited Humphrey since the early spring.
Humphrey will tag along with Eboh this weekend as both players visit The 40 Acres watch the Longhorns and Golden Bears play. According to a source, Humphrey is very high on Cal and was close to committing when visiting Berkeley over the summer. While the Golden Bears still represent a significant threat to Texas, we were told Humphrey is leaning more and more toward staying at home and playing in Austin. If Texas can play well against Cal this week and demonstrate to Humphrey they have a tailored plan on how he will be used in the offense, it’s safe to say his commitment could be secured very soon.
The third member of the SLC3 (Southlake Carroll Three), safety Robert Barnes, committed to Oklahoma last week. We were told by the aforementioned source that if Texas were to get Humphrey on top of Eboh, that Barnes would still be on the table in the long run. These developments are worth keeping a close eye on.
I just don't get it... what did he do that was so bad? I think most people have faith in the Strong and Smart hires... but what is he doing behind the scenes that is so disastrous?
It's not about what he did. It's about the way he did it.
Care to elaborate? How did he do it?
Brief description from Inside Texas:
"The guy pissed off his bosses and alienated his biggest clients. On 3 different occasions he begged for a mulligan. The boosters offering a check to buy him out was the last straw for Fenves."
As soon as I heard the firing, I was wondering if Mack's name wouldn't come up.
Honestly, you may not like it at first, but it would be a perfect hire. His salesmen skills would bring in great coaches and you'd get back a lot of booster alumni support you just lost.
Ifi was a horn I'd be thrilled with him being the AD.
Chip Brown piece back in June:

I'd be in major disbelief if the same powerful guys who wanted Mack and his culture out, want him back two years later.
And Mack proved he's done working in 2010.
I could be wrong but it seems like they only wanted him off of the sidelines. He was done coaching in 2010 but he's still working for the school, traveling to Dubai and all that.
It's a horrible idea. They just fired him. He's the reason the program is in the mess it's in. He participates in cronyism. He's extremely thin skinned and vindictive. He's an egotistical asshole who stole from the university. He would meddle in Charlie's program the first day on the job. There is no way in this happens. They ed up by not hiring Luck. It's a longshot but a mea culpa and groveling are in order.
lol UT.
Why did they hire this guy in the first place?
They definitely ed up by not getting Luck. i think you're too close to see Mack Brown objectively but whatever. You might be right and he totally blows.
Who else is out there? Lynn Hickey might be a decent hire.
That's the 5 million dollar question. So far the explanations are...
1. According to Chip, Jeff Hunt (a paid advisor and confidant of ex pres Powers) recommended him and got Steve an interview.
2. Oliver Luck wanted Mack gone before he got there as they're friends.
3. Steve didn't mind getting his hands dirty with beheadings. Also touted his skills in arena construction.
